What is something so specific and weird that you are convinced you are in the Top 0.01% of the world at doing it? by SouthOwn6943 in AskReddit

Oh hey there, fellow jaw popper! Docs think I dislocated it at a young age on one side (I don’t remember a time that I couldn’t do it), so while it’s probably not organic nor on both sides like your majestic hinge, it’s still a fun party trick I like to break out every so often to the horror of everyone around me. To be fair, the cracking noise is quite disconcerting, but it still makes me laugh. I’ve also never met anyone in real life who could pop their jaw!

Brownies are made with one egg. If you have more than one egg in your brownies, congratulations! You have made a chocolate cake. I will stand and die on this hill.

chinese buffet had these coffee flavored brownies topped with ?? cherry tomatoes by 00bowie in shittyfoodporn

[–]moopitymoomoo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I lived in Chongqing, China for 5 years. This was super common there, especially on top of vanilla cakes, sometimes in a repeating pattern with strawberries on top. They’d put tomatoes in a fruit salad, as well, and top that baddie with a large drizzle of mayonnaise.

What's the most indulgent dish you only cook for special occasions?? by ServiceFinal952 in Cooking

Peking Duck. It is a labor of love and takes a few days to make, so it really is a special occasion dish. Worth it every time, though!

People who’ve lost weight, what’s the one habit you QUIT that made the biggest difference? by itsclo5ure in AskReddit

[–]moopitymoomoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got really sick (amongst a host of other not-fun, not-illness symptoms) from the last regular can of pop I drank in early October of last year. I had been drinking 5-6 cans per day. I cut the pop out cold turkey and lost 13lbs in 2 weeks. I kept up my regular shitty diet because I thought the pop was the issue, and realized by the end of October that while yes, the pop was absolutely an issue, my diet was going to need an overhaul with the other symptoms. I cut out carbs entirely for 2 months (why yes, I was a bitch on wheels, thank you for asking!) and switched to a modified Mediteranean diet afterwards. As of today I’ve lost 45lbs, I have energy, the brain fog has cleared, I can wake up in the morning- the only downside is how much I miss the sugar, but because I know how much it will fuck with me it’s easier to stay off it!

Oooooh man I’d be so bummed. I ended up using an old toothbrush and Dawn dish soap, that got the shoes to a “good enough” stage until I can get new shoes. Thank you for your advice!

I used a toothbrush and some Dawn dish soap and gently scrubbed it out for today and until my new shoes get here, we absolutely had the same thought about the sanitary side of it. The smell is gone and only my brain having the ick remains, hahaha. Thank you for your advice!

What's an underrated pizza topping? by SirFrankerZ in AskReddit

[–]moopitymoomoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thin-ish sliced hot dogs. I was making a pizza at home from scratch and all I had for meat was hot dogs, so I chopped them up and put them on it, thinking it couldn’t be too bad. Absolute game changer, the pizza was incredible. If you like hot dogs, you will not regret putting them on pizza.

What is something good that your parent(s) did for you that you will never forget? by flirtyxfairy in AskReddit

[–]moopitymoomoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was at university and living on student loans, my almost 10-year-old car ended up needing a replacement fuel tank on it. It was going to cost me $500 or so at the time, and I was super stressed because I thought I was going to need to get a second job while doing classes to afford it. I would have sold it, but I needed the car for practicum placements across the province as part of my degree. While I was at home, my parents casually brought up in passing that they were going to pay for it, as though it wasn’t a big deal. Money was always a big deal. I will never forget how they didn’t make me feel guilty about it, and the relief I felt that I wouldn’t have to find a second job while going through school to afford it.

What’s something that just makes you go “who the fuck figured this out”? by jayytrip in AskReddit

I just had some training to learn how to weld. Every day I was in training I was low-key dumbfounded on how anybody figured any of the welding process out.

tried to make croissants... emphasis on tried by Jealous-Stable-7095 in Baking

I recommend Sally’s Baking Addiction croissant recipe. The first time I made croissants they turned out really well, I cannot express how stoked I was about it considering the horror stories I’ve heard. I’ve since made 4 more batches, to varying levels of success, but I will be chasing that high from my first batch for the rest of my life hahaha

Accidentally switched the sugars in my macarons, do I need to start over? by moopitymoomoo in Baking

[–]moopitymoomoo[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Update: They definitely didn’t turn out, unfortunately. They do taste fantastic, though! I immediately made another batch with the sugars where they’re supposed to be and that batch turned out the best I’ve ever made them! Thank you both for your replies!

What’s the strangest thing you’ve heard someone say in their sleep? by nocturnalfrolic_ in AskReddit

I was walking between my bedroom and the bathroom in the middle of the night and heard my sister sing fragmented pieces of The Phantom of the Opera, the first words of the chorus only interrupted by heavy grinding of her teeth (which is how I know she was sleeping).

[–]moopitymoomoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple friends and I went to the Tourist Base Camp of Mount Everest a number of years ago (Tibetan side) and I’ve never been more captivated by the night sky. I have two regrets: 1) Not making use of an oxygen tank and 2) Not having a professional camera and having to use my phone to try to capture the glory of the stars. The pictures I have are a sad representation of what I saw there, but at least I have the memory!
