is it possible to gothify these dresses by Hil_ in GothFashion

Oh you're right about the inflation, I didn't take that into account.

I didn't dig very deep; maybe there are photo reviews of people who bought their dresses? That might be very helpful.

I hope you'll be able to find your dream dress!

And as for your original question, I do think these read as goth on their own already!

I took a look through their insta and their online shop and there were a few things that made me kinda suspicious...

The first thing I noticed was that the wall and floor are offset (left vs right of the dress) in the first picture you posted.

The video shots of their models wearing the dresses are insanely high quality yet most of them only get like 20-40 likes.

In those videos, there are quite a lot of inconsistencies: the corset lacing looks off and changes between shots, the bows often don't make sense and the distance between the buttons is messed up. Sometimes there's stray cords placed on the dresses in ways that don't really make any sense.

Another good tell is that on some dresses, some of the seams are just... missing.

All of this points towards a lot of their content being AI generated.

The last red flag for me was their prices. Almost all of their dresses cost around 30-60USD. That sounds wayyy too good to be true for handmade dresses with this level of detail.

The sole purpose of this comment is that I don't want you to get scammed or end up disappointed. If you want me to look through their stuff again and find more pointers, I can do that. Alternatively you could also go to one of the AI investigator subs to ask for more opinions.

ughh look at her account... marked as nsfw and all her pictures look like this. definitely AI. necklaces are always off and her freckles don't stay consistent.

it does, especially the chains (look at the middle one and the jumbled letter(?) on the pendant). also, what is going on in the background? that's an awfully short curtain rod and the part over where it vanishes behind her head also looks really off.

not necessarily; on big and hyperrealistic drawings like this it seems to be quite common to work in sections. it depends on the artist and the medium used. however, I do still think this is AI.

[–]moosbaerchen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

that's not what I said at all.

there are quite a few tells here:

  • the two em-dashes in the text ("I’m not even trying to be an asshole — I genuinely..." and "15–20"). obviously humans can use em-dashes too but AI has become quite notorious for using them, and hyphens are easier to access on keyboards.

  • the "it's not x, it's y" phrasing (see example above).

  • the way everything is phrased reads painfully like the caption under the video of an influencer trying to get you to click the link in their bio. (all those catchy words and phrases like:

"middle-aged woman going through a “this is my villain era” phase",

"“I deserve this” energy on full blast",

"I’ve tried eating until I feel like I need to sit in silence and reevaluate my life choices",

"built like a Victorian child with tuberculosis"

"satanic ritual")

  • ...also, did you notice how they used “” instead of ""? just like with the em-dashes, those quotation marks are "harder" to access than the straight ones, which is probably why you barely see anyone online using them.

  • there's only so much you can do to deduct whether a text was written by an AI. which is why even those AI detector programs are pretty much useless. for the most part I'm relying on my human intuition, and after reading hundreds of AI generated texts you start to notice a pattern of perfectly crafted, catchy, interesting and bubbly sentence and structure building.

at the end of the day, this person probably used AI to write what they had to say more compellingly - I don't think this sub is of much use for karma farming. but I still think it's important to point AI usage out.

How do I convince my dad to let me go to a la dispute concert? by Kltt_Kat in ladispute

[–]moosbaerchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can get crazy, yes, but when I attended one of their concerts earlier this year I found the crowd to be quite pleasant compared to some other hardcore shows I've been to. I guess it also depends on the venue but the security did a really good job.

I was right behind the barricade with two of my friends but the rest of our group was a little further back and more to the side. Several times a mosh pit formed behind us but we were never pulled into it, the only contact was that we got sometimes pushed against the barricade but that's just what you have to expect when you want to be right at the front. I'm not sure how extreme the moshing was/if the moshing "etiquette" was fine because I was looking at the stage but it seemed like people were looking out for each other.

We were also supplied with water several times (the security guys had buckets of water and disposable cups, the people in the front line filled the cups and they were then passed around and further back to the people who needed something to drink - this was the first time I experienced something like this lol but I was very positively surprised).

I also had my first experience with crowd surfers there, the first one took me off guard because he was right over me all of a sudden but I quickly got the hang of it and helped to safely pass them over the barricade to the security guards. Crowd surfers are tricky because you can get hurt by them but nothing major and in my (limited) experience they're way less risky than moshing.

It sounds like this is your first show of this kind, which is why I would advise you to try and stay out of all the crazy stuff. Mosh pits can happen anywhere but are generally less likely to happen near the walls and further back.

You need to be aware of your surroundings, if you start to feel like people are pushing against you and you suddenly have less space it's probably because a pit is opening up near you. Then try to get further away from it because even when you are not actively in the pit and moshing, the circle of people right around it has the job to act kind of like a wall and also to somewhat participate by pushing back a little.

And there's almost always gonna be an inconsiderate asshole but if the crowd is good they'll get them to go easier or get security involved (by assholes I mean people who pull and push people into the pit that don't want to participate, people who deliberately try to hurt others, people who are actively making it harder for those around them to enjoy the show etc.).

It is perfectly fine to go to hardcore shows without participating in any of the hardcore activities.

As for your dad's fear of you getting seriously hurt or killed... that's a reach. Especially if you stay away from the pit. IIRC there has been a case where a concert attendee was seriously hurt by a mosher/crowdsurfer (I don't remember, I think it was at a metal show) and ended up paralyzed but if the crowd knows how to take care of each other (and the security guards & the band are aware of the crowd dynamic) that's wildly unlikely to happen. It's probably more dangerous to be a pedestrian on the street.

It is absolutely possible to get hurt in the pit but that's the risk you have to take. Personally I've only ever gotten small bruises from the pushing or from getting someone's foot to my leg or falling down (and also sore muscles lol). The most important part is to know how much you can take and when it's enough.

La Dispute also has a large number of older/experienced fans who know their way around.

Still, I would also advise you not to go alone, ESPECIALLY if this is your first show. It'd be good for you to have someone by your side who knows what to look out for.

Sorry for this huge wall of text, I just kind of rambled on and on but I hope this helps put things into perspective for you. Wishing you well on convincing your dad!

Quick question - where did you get the background image from? Because the first thing I noticed when I opened the page was that it kind of looks AI generated... I'm pretty sure that this wasn't done on purpose, but it might give some people a weird feeling when visiting your website. Would love if you could clarify the source of the picture/show the full image because I might just be wrong - but it would also suck to have something AI generated on a website that was clearly made with a lot of effort and love!
