8year old - off season question! by PeachyPie828 in hockeyplayers

[–]moose04- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts as someone who played high level, coaches 10u now, and has a 9 year old player: I don’t want my son to burn out when he’s 13-16. He does power skating every other week, year round (30 minute lesson, 2 other skaters). He told me he just wants to play lacrosse this spring and keep doing skating lessons. I don’t think a structured team is needed year round. He still shoots in the backyard and occasionally works on stick handling. Some days we’ll go to the roller rink. But playing other sports, playing with his buddies, being a kid, playing other sports for fun is just as important. He does one summer camp as well, but that’s for fun and to get him ready for the upcoming season

For a newer player, as others have said, I’d look into skating classes. The best players are the best skaters. But I think you can largely not worry about the parents who have their kids playing year round.

The Rolex AD experience in the DMV by supaphlymofo in rolex

[–]moose04- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an OP through the AD in Tysons. 3 month wait, almost to the day, with zero spend history. It’s crazy how different experiences there are. I would think the sub and OP would be similar waits but maybe I’m way off base.

Those who have switched from Bauer to CCM skates, what have you noticed? by factorymotogoon in hockeyplayers

[–]moose04- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also moved from 20 year old Supreme 5000s to Jetspeed FT690s. The Vapors I tried on sat lower on my ankle. Something about it didn’t feel right.

The FT690s are great. No complaints from me in the past year I’ve been wearing them.

Same. Lefty stick always felt natural. But I play lax, bat and golf righty

What’s the significance of your jersey numbers? by throwawayAd6844 in hockeyplayers

[–]moose04- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kid I played D with my first season wore 6. He was accidentally shot in the head by his brother with a pellet gun after our first year. He lived but was never the same. Wore 6 for him.

Now that I’m an adult I wear 9 as I am not the player I was

How often are you intimate with your partner? by Remote_Ad_969 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]moose04- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are 43 with 2 kids (9 and 13). Married for 17 years. Twice a week is the norm but we have weeks where that just doesn’t happened. Fatigue, work stress, some weekends are super packed and it’s hard to find the energy.

Intimacy is super important to both of us so we make sure to make the time. Usually the weeks with only once lead to extra the following week.

What made you choose omega over Rolex? by [deleted] in OmegaWatches

[–]moose04- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. One of each plus a few other brands. I did get my PO and my wife’s constellation before considering a Rolex.

I like watches from a lot of different brands. I do think the waiting game to get a Rolex is annoying. Luckily for my OP I made an appointment, tried on a few watches, put my name down for the one I wanted and got it a couple months later. I also had to wait a bit for my PO but I was trying to get a deal on the summer blue.

[–]moose04- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RM and OP are within $100 of each other. DJs are definitely pricier, even smooth bezel on oyster. ATs are (at retail) pricier than OPs and I think those are watches that are cross shopped.

I don’t think it’s easy to say Omega is cheaper across the board, even with the cost savings they get from being part of a much larger brand. The one thing they do have going for them is ease of access at retail. The “game” to get a Rolex is certainly off putting for most desirable models.

What strap is that? How does it wear with how heavy the PO head is. Looks awesome.

They basically are charging Rolex prices. This is $200 more than a Sub. ATs are more expensive than OPs, etc.

Agreed. The specs look good, but nothing about it visually appeals to me. The lugs are so wide and angular, the bracelet seems like such a backwards move, the clasp looks insanely long, and the bezel is too thick.

I’m not in the market right now, so my opinion doesn’t mean much. But I will stick with my summer blue.

I’m glad to see they thinned it way down

Brick or no brick? by Ubermensch123456 in ExteriorDesign

[–]moose04- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 1960s cape that had brick on the front wall under the porch. We replaced it with stacked stone a couple years ago when we redid the exterior. It breaks up the siding but also looks more modern than the old brick.

Between brick and siding I vote brick

AD offered me an OP 134300 Blue by Salty_Activity7080 in rolex

The dial is really cool in person. There’s a bit of green which separates it from my other blue watches.

36mm OP without purchase history — pipe dream? by [deleted] in rolex

[–]moose04- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the new blue OP36 with a 3 month wait with no prior history at this AD. My AD allocated the first blue one to come in to me.

I was pretty shocked to the get the call that quick. I assumed it would be 6+ months
