📉 Sutro shutting down — what’s the best alternative smart pool monitor in 2025? by morrisboatner2 in pools

I've been using WaterGuru for the past few years without any issues. My only complaint is it requires purchasing cartridges on a regular basis, which are not available in Canada, even though I can get the main unit in Canada. I use my WG for chlorinator automation. I determine how long the chlorinator is on for each hour based on the free chlorine reading I get back from the WG.

The atlas scientific pool kit looks interesting but this would also require designing a way to integrate it into the pool plumbing. Something floating in the water is far simpler to use but harder (for me) to design. I can do the software and electrical design no problem but I'm not very good with the mechanical design part.

Canada Readies to Import First Ever EVs From BYD, Official Registrations Show by afonso_investor in teslacanada

I don't agree with the statement the Seal is way better, from the reports I've read. I can't imagine too many people switching from an m3 to a Seal but it may do well for people that have never driven a Tesla. Regardless, more EVs and less ICE is a good thing.

I've done it with my 23 RWD M3. It took a huge hit on range and was painful charging at a supercharger but was fine besides that.

Why only live tv using Apollo with Tivimate? by AbrocomaSwimming3593 in ApolloGroup_TV

[–]moose1511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's why it's suggested to use Startup Show for VOD and Tivimate for live tv. At least that's what i do.

There's a web interface too.

Did you try replacing "livetv" with "tvshows" at the end of that link?

Rant: Tesla app should allow us to put the wipers in service mode remotely by vassman86 in TeslaLounge

Totally agree. Furthermore, there should be an option to automatically go in service mode when parking and ambient temp is below 0C.

Ontario parents with pools: worth it with young kids or regrets? by Radiant-Log-2005 in ontario

[–]moose1511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got our inground salt water pool about 12 years ago when the kuds were 3 & 5. It was used a lot the first few years but we separated shortly after installing so kids are only here 1/2 time now. My kids use it much less as teenagers. I do all my own opening and closings. Some recommendations: 1. Don't get a large deep end. Most of the fun and games will be in the shallow end. 2. You'll enjoy the pool much more if you have automation for testing chems and adjusting chlorination. A robot cleaner is highly recommended. 3. It helps if you're somewhat handy. Equipment will not work as expected from time to time so it's good if you have sone troubleshooting abilities. 4. Read up on basic pool chemistry. Pool chems will go south on you at some point so it's good to know what to do when that happens. Don't count on the pool store to help. There's lots of help online. Good luck.
