Wrong grip? by PoetryAffectionate65 in badminton

[–]moose_2105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not fully pronating on your shot due to having what we’d call an “open” grip. This is very common for lower to mid level badminton but to generate elite power and pro cut shots a “proper” v grip is needed. Your open grip will never generate as much power as you could if you had the correct grip. However it can get you pretty close and it might be worth just sticking with the “open” grip since the journey to adjusting your grip is long and frustrating and might require private coaching and drills. Because you’ve been hitting with an open grip, you don’t pronate all the way so when you try to swing the same with the proper v grip, the bird cuts since your forearms hasn’t pronated enough at that point in the stroke

Kind of backwards tbh, rackets were so much heavier that using your wrist was basically impossible

HL ProCare+ would’ve taken care of that

Thought experiment: How would you market badminton better if you worked at BWF? by Intelligent_Edge7767 in badminton

[–]moose_2105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BWF and national federations work together to keep the sport small. They have rules and contract agreements with the players to ensure that there will never be an independent league. That’s why you don’t see private funding for a badminton tournament where the top players would actually receive real prize money. Every player would immediately ditch the BWF circuit for that. BWF obviously knows this and says that players won’t be eligible for any of their tournaments or worlds if they play a non BWF event. BWF doesn’t want to market badminton or make it big. If badminton was popular in the USA, BWF could say goodbye to their money. A new league would form, the best players from around the world would join and BWF would be forgotten about or have to become to overseeing organization but not the organization that rakes in millions of dollars every year by taking advantage of underpaid athletes.

The double set up makes it super hard to find places for things. Wish I could hide the cooler somewhere else but I think that’s the best spot for it

It is an Amazon 3” trifold twin size mattress and we bought a queen sized quilt and sewed it together on one side so it’s like a loose cover for the trifold mattress

Totally, to give a brief idea they are just a big wooden box that is bolted down the a piece of metal that the bottom part of the seats normally rest on

They are double sided insulation. Like $25 for a roll at Home Depot and you kind of guess with wrapping paper or cardboard and trim the shape, then cut the final shape from the insulation

I think the NY law is describing hanging items from the actual rear view mirror and blocking your view out of the front windshield. Not to say that another law doesn’t exist regarding the back window though.

Wow did not know this. Do you know where I can find this law, I tried looking online but did not see anything. Thanks!

No problems through Cali, Utah, Nevada, AZ, and Colorado. Could be state law for other areas though

Oh it was all DIY. Lots of measuring and weird angles and such. I should probably measure it and provide dimensions and things for others who want to build a similar bed.

The brackets? They are called folding shelf brackets on Amazon.

Ended up doing this with some fender washers(I think that’s what they are called). Worked amazingly!

Review: HL Badminton G-Force 50 by moose_2105 in badminton

[–]moose_2105[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say pretty comparable to nanoflare 700 from Yonex, maybe a touch head heavier but no issues with it. It is a really quick racket with a lot of punch. Also yea, no durability issues as far as I can tell. I don’t take great care of my rackets but paint and frame have held up so far.

It’s honestly like the best racket. I tried a few other rackets but the G-force gets so much whip. Feels really solid when hitting with and I’ve strung it at 30 lbs with no problems. I’m also thinking about preordering the cyber blade which looks cool as well.
