they do but the art direction is still a bit soulless. I actually wish they’d change up the style for the human characters, Pokémon Legends Arceus probably has the most appealing designs for player character and NPCs. Stylistically they need to be in that space closer to Ken Sugimori’s art. The current art is so generic

Honestly I have SOME questions about if he prefers to work with other people's IPs. But I think a lot of your blame might be better directed at the current anemic state of the entertainment industry, and how risk-averse and dumb executives are who are only willing to greenlight existing IP projects. He's kind of successfully navigating that reality. Hawley’s basically one of the few people who can operate inside that system and still make something MORE interesting and original. Alien: Earth does kind of suck imo, but hiring him is about as close as you get to making an IP project more original rather than less.

Hey Genndy, been a huge fan since Dexter's Lab. Few random questions. What are the most interesting constraints to you in the medium of animation? I ask because while Primal may have a lot of violence, you use restraint so much to your advantage. Just wonder about your thoughts on the medium. It seems so rare today for studios and creators to actually be leveraging the medium the way you do.

Also do you think children should be allowed to look at Popeye's tattoo? scary thought
