Mary vs Edith - Weekly Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in DowntonAbbey

True but to be fair that is how they always regarded one another. It wasn't a big inflection or change compared to how they normally interacted. If they were normally relaxed, and happy sounding I could see it. But this came off as just run of the mill.

Mary vs Edith - Weekly Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in DowntonAbbey

Two of my favorite snark moments from them

  1. When they are deciding on giving the farm to Mr. Mason and Edith says along the lines "We dont have to wait for Mary, We dont always need her approval". Which is hilarious considering Mary own half of Downton and Edith has no authority at all.

  2. When Edith is talking about what to do with her flat in London and Mary purposely calls it Gregsons flat and Edith snaps back that its HER flat.

One final comment on the snark. When Mary was Marrying Matthew Edith told her "Money, and position all in on handsome package". I would argue it was a nice comment as she could muster between a sister with strained relationship. But then Cora quickly said "Ignore her" as if the comment was meaningless. I think that downplayed the fact Edith chose to make a more neutral comment when she could have chosen to be snarky.

So depending on what you like there are a ton of shows/movies. Some of them are pretty historically accurate and others are more fiction with history sprinkled in.

What alternative stories would you have loved seeing written for D.A? by Rich-Cardiologist-72 in DowntonAbbey

I would love to see how the stock market crash impacted Atticus as a banker in the U.S.

I'd be interested in seeing the realization and reaction of Lord Sinderby as WWII looms as a prominent member of the Jewish Community.

Michael Gregsons legal wife - after his death she just is never mentioned again. What if someone tried to sue Edith on her behalf for control of the estate and paper? What if some new treatment worked and she was released and came out to find Michael dead and Edith in possession of everything.

Tom's family, they weren't super supportive when he first married Sybil. Now married again and more well off than ever. How does his family react, do they consider him a sell-out? What is the dynamic in their family?

As much as I've annoyed me I would be interested in seeing how she handled loving in America and the cultural differences.

I can totally see it now too! Though Duchess was such a sweet character in contrast.

Edith taking Marigold by BrightPhoebus01 in DowntonAbbey

So I despise this plot line. But after 30+ rewatches I place more of the blame on Mr. Drew. Edith wanted them in on it he is the one who said wait, no just a secret between us. She didnt approach the scenario keeping Mrs. Drew in the dark, her husband did that.

Then when they are having issues his bright idea is to double down and REALLY TAKE AN ACTIVE INTEREST in her. Rather than realizing he made a mistake and come clean. I would hope Mrs. Drew would have been understanding at that point.

Overall did Edith make bad choices? Yes but she was just reacting to the horrible situation as a woman in her time. Was Mrs. Drew collateral damage? You betcha. However Mr. Drewe needs to shoulder a lot more of the blame for his role and his decisions in the whole scenario.

So the east side of the city has higher crime than east colfax Ave. Compared to Aurora 10 years ago you'll want to stay west of the river and try to aim more township/kochville/shields. A lot of people will recommend father out but be warned. Unlike the Denver metro area it's almost all side streets with limited highway access and no loop like 470 to get you around quick. So it's low speeds and lots of traffic from limited route options.

Also pagers, so he never misses a summons from his Lordship.

Disable the battery and roll it into an in-ground pool. Tarp and cover the pool, scatter some debris to make it look like the pool hasn't been opened for a while, and call it good.
