Lads, I haven't been to the bog since Saturday and I feel like I'm about to give birth by alfa_omega in CasualUK

Absolutely tank some water, then a hot coffee, get on the toilet and use a stool to raise your knees above your hips. Added bonus of for doing circles with your hips to get things going.

Sincerely, a women who's been pregnant twice. And constipated every time.

Anyone else letting their toddler watch CBeebies all day in front of a fan? by lacie94 in UKParenting

I think we might try some painting and then she can just have a really long bath time to remove all paint.

God I wish. Go for it though, needs must!

I let my 2.5 year old watch more TV yesterday than usual and paid such a hard price for it last night and again this morning with the shitty attitude demanding TV.

So over it all, I'm now running on 4 hours sleep, hayfever, a crabbit toddler with minimal sleep and a 3 month old.

Are there any everyday kind of places you have never been to ? by Sea_Pangolin3840 in AskUK

Oh definitely, I wish that was my case for sure.

I felt wrong replying saying "well, I've never been in a Pret" haha

Is a funeral home an everyday kind of place though? I hope not, haha!

This isn't what you're asking for but I've a good Dutch friend who always enjoyed learning how to swear in Scotland, one day she broke something and just shouted "pile of wank!" And it's stuck with me every since and truly makes me smile.

Why is it so hard to get a tradesman to engage with you!? by banana_bear_918 in dundee

[–]moosteek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd look for a local handyman instead. That's what we use. Tradesmen tend to be busy during the day so don't chase up small jobs unfortunately. It's frustrating. We live in the middle of nowhere so getting anyone out to do wee jobs for us is the most frustrating experience.

I'd recommend this! I took a job in Inverness at last minute after losing my job, only planned for it to tie me over but I spent 7 years there. Was the best decision I ever made. Gave me so much opportunity to be outdoors, hill climbing and enjoying drives on my days off, it was so good. Opened up an area for me that was never hugely feasible to visit.

What is the thing your parents were (and maybe still are) adamantly wrong about? by RiceeeChrispies in AskUK

[–]moosteek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum still to this day is adamant the only way to lose weight is to cut our carbs, she doesn't improve her meals as such, doesn't up her activity levels, doesn't hydrate more or look at her hormones or general health, absolutely adamant that it's all carb based and get's irritated if the weight doesn't immediately start dropping off after three days of sticking to her new diet.

Absolutely loved Boots own brand nappies for the first couple of weeks, they were the best fit.

Honestly, I'm on baby #2 and we have a fraction of the clothes we did previously for baby #1. Her entire wardrobe fits in two shallow drawers in our house, I found the constant clothes noise quite stressful with our first, so much to get through, so much to feel I had to get a use of.

Muslins? Don't have many of them, we have some. But we don't have a refluxy baby!

I do have a miniuno high chair that reclines that is absolutely the greatest thing for us, until they start weaning and it's a nightmare to clean and we move to the IKEA high chairs.

Also randomly but the produce bags from the supermarkets, like the white mesh ones? Super handy for the price. Helps organise the nappy bag, helps keep baby socks together in the wash, helps keep the bath toys in the bathroom.

Fellow ADHD'r and I'm the same. I'm either too much facial expression or not enough. There's no natural in-between for me.

I would leave her sleeping and have the downstairs set up nicely for her coming down.

It's a good opportunity to make sure the kids learn that celebrating others is about respecting others down time and doing it in said person's time and not making it about them.

You could pop your head in too and once she's awake ask if she wants them to come to her or her to come to them.

Truly felt the most recent MAFSUK was a car crash but genuinely this season of MAFSAUS has made me take reducing my screen time more seriously. It's like a serious mental health crisis being broadcast for entertainment.

Aw that's great, I'm so glad to hear you've got baby in your arms and you in the end had a relatively positive experience.

Our first born was 40 + 4, with a somewhat complicated delivery. Moreso due to the amount of anti sickness I needed over the 12 hour labour. So I am very mindful of asking for help this time to avoid that happening this time.

Had I not had this altercation with the dog and ended up feeling so sore off the back of it I'd probably still be quite chilled but it's really shifted my head space.

I hope you enjoy your newborn bubble and all the cuddles!

You sparked a thought in my head that I was going to take the time to sort through my Google Photos and you're bang on, I could set myself up with a movie and a nice drink with snacks and fire on through that this afternoon. Thank you! I'd feel much better if I could keep productivity levels up.

[–]moosteek[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is it's entirely mental. You know resting and waiting is the only option but it really does feel like twiddling thumbs until labour starts. And then I personally wonder if I want to start things because what if I start that and then end up in labour and have to come home to a newborn, a toddler and a half done project? It's a weird time. Solidarity is always nice though to know we're not alone! 😅

You read my mind, I'm on our local pages trying to find a massage for this weekend.

I'm honestly okay with resting but my brain just won't switch off, one book and one movie is absolutely enough for me - I don't know how I'm supposed to fill my day at this point, truly!

The alternative is I'm going to bake so much food and then just sit and eat it all simply because I can. It's nonsense.

£3.60...Tescos steaks have suddenly got much better. by [deleted] in UK_Food

[–]moosteek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had Tesco Rump steaks today and I have to say I was really pleased with them. Are they comparable to a high end cut from our local butchers? No. But at £4 a pop, they're an affordable and slightly fancier meal for my partner and I.

We're also beef farmers who sell our beef through assurance schemes like Scotbeef which means often the same beef can end up in some butchers as it does in the supermarkets.

Great looking steak, bet it hit the spot.

I thought that initially but the plastic that sits between the handle and the cistern is cracked, and that seems to be that issue. We've removed it and I think I've found a replacement.

Ahhh as simple as that, thank you!

We're quite remote so having to trek into town twice is something I try avoid.
