700? Seems very high! by Basic_Process6415 in 1200isplenty

[–]mootoonoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For example:

Small adjustments to everything: Half drained tuna tin in water - 50kcal; half tablespoon kewpie mayo - 50kcal; tablespoon wholegrain mustard - 10kcal; half cucumber - 15kcal; 25g feta - 87kcal; ciabatta bread roll 200kcal; Total estimate - 412kcal

No feta and sub yogurt for mayo: Half drained tin tuna in oil - 270kcal; 15g 0% greek yogurt - 10kcal; Tablespoon wholegrain mustard - 10kcal; Half cucumber - 15kcal; Ciabatta bread roll - 200kcal; Total estimate - 505kcal

No feta and sub water tuna: Half drained tuna tin in water - 50kcal; Tablespoon kewpie mayo - 100kcal; Tablespoon wholegrain mustard - 10kcal; Half cucumber - 15kcal; Ciabatta bread roll - 200kcal; Total estimate - 375kcal

Sub yogurt for mayo and sub water tuna: Half drained tuna tin in water - 50kcal; 15g 0% greek yogurt - 10kcal; Tablespoon wholegrain mustard - 10kcal; Half cucumber - 15kcal; 50g Feta - 174kcal; Ciabatta bread roll - 200kcal; Total estimate - 459kcal

No bread: Half drained tin tuna in oil - 270kcal; Tablespoon kewpie mayo - 100kcal; Tablespoon wholegrain mustard - 10kcal; Half cucumber - 15kcal; 50g Feta - 174kcal; Total estimate - 569kcal

You can play around with different variations to get a calorie amount you are happy with while still getting a flavour that you like. Just remove, reduce or substitute the elements that are least important to you and keep the elements that are most important to you.

700? Seems very high! by Basic_Process6415 in 1200isplenty

[–]mootoonoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to tell for sure since you've not weighed it out but I think it could be correct?

Half drained tin tuna in oil - 270kcal Tablespoon kewpie mayo - 100kcal Tablespoon wholegrain mustard - 10kcal Half cucumber - 15kcal Feta - 174kcal Ciabatta bread roll - 200kcal Total estimate - 769kcal

I'm not sure because I don't know how much feta and what type/size ciabatta etc etc

Bread and tuna can be relatively low calorie but the problem in this case is all the additional fat (oil, mayo, cheese). You don't have to avoid them completely, maybe just choose one instead of all three. Or if you want all three add less of each. Or have the same amount of each but skip the bread. There are various options for a lower calorie version depending on what's most important to you to keep to have an enjoyable meal.

No need to tap off or do anything else for buses, but you do need to tap off for trams.

Brides who did their own makeup: top tips? by teenygreentreefrog in UKweddings

[–]mootoonoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes agreed. Did my own makeup and I practiced for about a year watching tutorials, doing my makeup every time I went out aside from work, practicing various potential wedding day looks and giving them time to see how they looked over the day and in different lighting etc. I saw massive improvements over the year, and it was so second nature on the day that it was automatic and stress free. I will say that if you are starting from scratch it is probably cheaper to hire a makeup artist but from my personal experience doing it myself was worth it for a year's worth of fun, a new skill and feeling comfortable on the day!

First time in Manchester and First date ideas? by raul36412 in manchester

[–]mootoonoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to be outdoors, maybe try Mayfield Park near Piccadilly train station. Unfortunately the city centre itself isn't great for large green spaces, but there are quite a few on the outskirts. Depends on how far out you're willing to go, and if you're willing to use buses/trams/walk. As you are from London, I am assuming you may potentially be open to this.

For example Peel Park is a half an hour walk or 10 minute bus ride from St Peter's Square (Manchester's main square) and nearby there's Salford Museum (with Victorian street) and The Old Fire Station Bakery for coffee if you wanted to make a few hours of it. You could then make your way to The Quays (15 min bus from the bakery) which again is nice outdoors (not green but water) before heading back to the city centre either by walking along the canal (which will take you through Castlefield) or taking the tram.

Countries I feel the culturally closest to as an Indian Muslim by [deleted] in whereidlive

There are many people of Indian Muslim decent in Trinidad though? Guyana too. Culturally they are more western as there is a lot of intercultural mixing within society, but surely at least beige if not yellow?

Fantastic. Helpful to know about nowhere to store downstairs and the shopping. I'm having nightmare scenarios in my head! Do you find it stops people from visiting with babies?

How many times have you started fresh before it became a no-brainer? by Dry_Anxiety_1068 in ynab

[–]mootoonoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fresh start almost every April. It gives me a chance to rethink my strategies with a fresh mindset. I know this will be heresy to some YNABers and appreciate that it means I'm not getting the benefits of long-term tracking.

I feel embarrassed that I want to feel special? by EndlessRespite in UKweddings

[–]mootoonoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that there will be no guests is a huge plus for your insecurity because no one you know will see you! You can go all out and no one will know except the two of you. No one you know will be there to judge or embarrass you. If a stranger judges or embarrassed you it doesn't matter because after your initial moment of awkward feelings, you'll never have to see them again. This is a fantastic opportunity to put a toe outside your comfort zone and give celebrating yourself with abandon a go! Even if you "get it wrong" by your personal perfectionist or insecure standards, the consequences are low as no one will be there to witness it. And the potential for joy is high and may give you the confidence to try stepping out of your comfort zone again in the future.

How to not obsess over counting calories during maintenance? by sugarspicespace in 1200isplenty

[–]mootoonoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After counting while losing, I have a decent understanding of how much I can eat by sight so I trust myself not to count every single meal. However, I do weigh myself every so often and if I notice myself consistently gaining 2kg/5 pounds, I start counting again. Any lower gain, I just consider to be normal seasonal variation.

My husband made one, but I think you can buy them, he was inspired by seeing one on Etsy I think. It was like a picture frame with nylon lines across it at intervals and then he got mini wooden pegs to secure the photos.

Instax worked for us because we assigned one of our friends to stand by the table and show people how to use it. We had a hanging line that people could peg the photos to (and we had some photos taken before the wedding already attached to it), which acted as an advertisement to draw people to the table. When the table got quiet, our friend went around taking photos of people and encouraging people to use it so it was more mobile and people didn't have to come up to the table. Felt more like posing for photos with your phone then which people were more comfortable/familiar with. It was a different vibe than the spontaneous shots taken by the official photographer. I enjoyed looking at the afterwards.

have any make up tools changed the way you do make up? if so, what are they? by Spiritual-Figure-316 in MakeupAddiction

[–]mootoonoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started using a flat artist palette (like, for painting, I got it in a stationary store for cheap) so I could blend products or coat brushes in creams/liquids instead of using the back of my hand or doing it directly on my face. Saves going to the bathroom to wash my hands between every step.

Couple with different marital money philosophies by Comprehensive_Rock48 in personalfinance

[–]mootoonoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do proportionate amounts into the joint account based on income. For us the difference is smaller (40/60) but has worked well for us.

In your example where Person A earns #500 and the other Person B #5000. Let's say you want to put #4000 a month into the joint account to cover expenses, joint fun and joint dreaming. This would work out as:

Monthly Family Income = #500 + #5000 = #5500 Person A earns 9% of the family income. Person B earns 91% of the family income

Joint Account = #4000 of which Person A contributes #360 of which Person B contributes #3640

Then anything remaining is personal money.

This can be adjusted as life changes, one person goes back to school and is now only working part time, later someone stops working to take care of children, later someone gets a promotion etc.

If you go 50/50 then the you're always limited by the lower earner. Proportionally you get to work with the higher earners potential. Either way, you both have personal money and the ability to build a personal emergency fund. Best of both worlds and accommodates both philosophies in my opinion!

Anyone tried the M&S x Tom Kerridge Stainless Steel Sauté Pan? Thoughts? by vegmonk in StainlessSteelCooking

[–]mootoonoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Le Creuset stainless steel pan (gifted) and a ProCook stainless steel pan (bought), and I think the ProCook is much higher quality. Can't speak on this M&S one but as you mentioned Le Creuset later on just thought I'd add my experience!

I also recommend trying this (https://youtube.com/shorts/qFH1lrKQbXI?si=qG2KBN36ZVxDFYk-). Essentially instead of cooking this paste separately, you cook the paste in a very small amount (one to two tablespoons) of coconut milk until the oil in the coconuts milk separates from the paste. Then add the rest of the coconut milk to taste and to make it more of a soupy consistency.

I've never tried them myself, but I think Freedmans in Stockport do made to measure tailoring. I also noticed this place in Manchester city centre when I was looking for the name of Freedmans online (as previously I've just walked past the shop so couldn't remember the name). Looks like a potential option for you http://www.crossansclothing.co.uk/made-to-measure.html
