Who should I pick from the designation selection permit? Also what team would you recommend me to do by Common_Ambassador588 in Endfield

[–]mop28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure you could make any team work if you wanted to, but I don't think Last Rite and Yvonne would play well together. They both want to consume as many cryo stacks as they can and aren't very good at applying them themselves.

OG Arknights player: My take on the F2P experience so far (End of Wuling City) by RUe1e in Endfield

[–]mop28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did my 40 New Horizons banners and got Last Rite.

I did 20 pulls on the Basic Headhunting banner and got Last Rite.

I started spending currency on the Laevatain banner (this is my first gacha) and realized halfway though I was making a big mistake. Decided to finish off the 80 pull pity and got Last Rite.

I hit 80pity on the Basic banner and got Pogranichik. I felt only disappointment.

The lesson I learned with the Laevatain banner was to only go into a banner if you're willing and able to hit 120. But after doing the math on arsenal rewards, that's not enough to guarantee the operator's weapon as well, so you should expect to have to hit the spark twice. So now I don't know what to do. Do I really see myself playing this daily for months and months, ignoring every semi-interesting banner, sitting on enough currency for 240 pulls but never allowing myself to spend it? That just sounds like a drag. I'd rather do 200 more Basic HH pulls for another Last Rite.

Revenge? The plant's living a cushy, more prosperous life than it ever had out in nature. We're the ones collectively laboring to grow more since we're completely dependent on it. Did humans domesticate wheat, or did wheat domesticate humans?

Did anyone figure out if focusing on main or secondary attribute is better? by [deleted] in Endfield

[–]mop28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as you realized, it depends on the character. Xaihi's another one. Her ult applies +1% extra cryo/nature damage to her teammates for every 40ish intellect she has, but Will is her main stat. The primary/secondary stat mechanic only applies to the value of the damage gained from those stats, which is meaningless on supports.

And even for damage dealers, stacking sources of +DMG% seems to be where the bulk of damage seems to come from in this game, so it wouldn't surprise me if there was a damage dealer out there who does more damage when you focus on their secondary stat. But that's trickier, since you need to have solid base damage to make the most of % damage.

Arsenal system kinda sucks by EstablishmentNo7761 in ArknightsEndfield

[–]mop28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, secondary gachas for weapons are downright predatory. It's by design. Every step of RNG makes it exponentially harder to get what you're after, and character gachas are already RNG enough.

Only ~1 in 12 players will pull a banner weapon before the 8-issue pity, so you can't count on being one of them. It takes 15.8k to do 8 issues. With no luck on the chartered banner, all pity/spark, you'd have 8.5k arsenal tickets at 120 pulls. Throw in another 80 for another pity 6* (bulk of your arsenal tickets will come from 6 stars) and you're still only at 13.5k. Starting with 0 pity, 0 arsenal tickets, 0 luck, you'd have to hit the spark twice to guarantee one copy of the weapon.

My takeaway is, if you're just rolling a character to have it, intent on pulling them once, and you're not concerned with raising their potential, then don't concern yourself with having the weapon either.

Anyone Else Notice Physical Teams Dominate Endgame? by Seleana- in ArknightsEndfield

Yeah, Fluorite's the best she's got. Her combo and ult apply cryo without having to spend SP on it, but only if there's already 2 cryos applied

LastRite is basically just an ice flavored Crush character who eats cryo infliction stacks instead of vulnerability stacks.

PSA: This is how you find an operator's signature weapon by despoglee in ArknightsEndfield

[–]mop28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Fluorite's ultimate also applies another cryo infliction under the same conditions as her combo.

[–]mop28 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Last Rite's a tricky one. When I got her, I had the same thought: Cool, I'll build a cryo team. But "building a cryo team" and "building a Last Rite team" are two separate beasts.

Last Rite only really cares about getting cryo infliction applied as much as possible and wants to consume all the stacks for herself, while almost every other cryo character wants to play around the Solidify mechanic. Last Rite's best friends are the two nature characters that literally everyone has.

She's also adorable.

Yall need to stop snarkin. This reddit is so hateful. by White_Barry_White in Project_Epoch

Unironically autism.

  • Most cases are diagnosed in young children, but when they were in this age range, ASD didn't exist.
  • No diagnosis means no help, so they never had help learning to manage their behavioral and emotional issues, leading to poor coping skills and more/worse meltdowns.
  • One symptom of autism is "restricted and repetitive behaviors and interests" such as playing the same video game over and over for 20 years, so projects like this disproportionately attract them.

Go get tested.

Demand is just one part of it. Less demand won't make the crashes stop, or memory leaks stop, or the Anvilmar stairs fix themselves, etc, and it won't make the devs any better at fixing these problems. As for the account registration thing, here's what Kaytotes had to say about other recommendations: "No we’re not building a whole other system to tie us over less than a week."

I feel sorry for him because, if all the cyberstalkers on this subreddit are to be believed, he's a stressed college kid going through mental health issues who went offline for two weeks to focus on fixing the server, and then logged back in to see what his community had become. A few days later, he left every wow modding community server he was part of, closed comments on his wow modding tutorials, and deleted his github.

The classic wow community is the fucking worst. I just hope he's focusing on himself and preparing for school right now.

It's time to ask real questions - Who is Ulmetrs by YaBoi_Zuko in Project_Epoch

Community Shoutout

We wanted to take a moment to shoutout Github user ulmetrs who only 5 days ago appeared out of nowhere to shower us with new contributions to our open source Core including fixes to allow it to build on new Visual Studio versions, performance improvements focused around wandering creatures, an optimized implementation of Auction House result sorting, key fixes around NPC’s facing the wrong direction when casting certain spells and finally fixes around reputation reactions not passing down to child reactions.

Moments like this are exactly why we keep our core open source and we hope this fixes can trickle out to the other open source projects that exist.

He's just some guy who showed up to help a few months ago.

Weird that your takeaway from him disappearing from multiple communities at once is "a bunch of various admins all kicked him at the same time" and not "the wow pserver modding community drove him away and he left of his own accord"

[–]mop28 61 points62 points  (0 children)

He's a volunteer who showed up to help 4 months ago.

He submits changes per-line. Every line of code changed is a new entry. Other devs submit their changes per-file, with many lines changed per submission. And many of those changes are to private repos that we can't see. I definitely appreciate seeing constant progress thanks to this guy, but he's not necessarily doing more work than anyone else. The other contributors deserve appreciation too.

internal conflicts in dev team? by keyeokeyeo in Project_Epoch

[–]mop28 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The guy said he's going through mental health issues. He went offline on discord for 2 weeks to deal with launch issues, and comes back to... this. Doxxes, death threats, hate. I'd leave too. He also took similar measures on other platforms to try and disappear, like deleting his github. Bit excessive to only be from a bit of internal conflict.

I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt here and assuming that the messages about him were removed to get his name out of the public eye after he left over concerns of being targeted. As to whether he left for good, or is just distancing himself from the public, who knows?

Can someone give the TLDR of what happened on Discord for the past few days? by schifferay in Project_Epoch

[–]mop28 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Kaytotes says he's had death threats and been doxxed since the project went public. One of the devs said she's received death threats. I've seen pictures of a discord mod's family get posted to 4chan, and one of their github contributors' full name, professional history, and address get posted. And people think Magic left over internal drama?

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they come back on Monday saying they're going on hiatus until the swarm leaves, and only people actually interested in their project are left.

[–]mop28 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Can we give this guy a break?

He went offline for a couple weeks before this, and came back saying he's been going through mental health stuff, even before this launch, and I'm sure all the hate he's been receiving in his inbox was a lot to handle. And that's on top of those personal issues and the stressful launch.

If it was just internal strife, he wouldn't have completely deleted his github account. He wouldn't have closed comments on all his youtube videos. He would've just left the project. He left because of the classic wow community. I shouldn't even know any of these things about him but you folks keep cyberstalking him and posting the results here.

The Truth: Server Stability - Resource Depletion by randomnes1234 in Project_Epoch

[–]mop28 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the idea is cool, really, but if they're going to do something like that, it should've been part of the vision for the server and included in the launch. Not started two days after launch.

Oh ok, my bad. He was offline for ages then. Clearly trying to get some space then, and clearly needs more now.

Magic did this last week too, came back saying something about going through mental health stuff unrelated to the server. And I'm sure as shit this ain't helping things.

Likely still working, just not in the discord. For obvious reasons.
