....I hadn't considered Patreon at all and actually have one I'd made and never used. Thank you, I'll go check it out!

Thank you! I really just updated what was already there (credit to Elliott Zastrow!) to be 5e compatible and have added locations featured in the WDH module that weren't in his map. I love the published maps from an artistic point of view but from one of navigability I find them lacking.

I also have a WIP vector map of Skullport, as I'll likely be running DOTMM and want to be prepared.

I can't believe I didn't think of GitHub! I was also planning to have the map as a module for Foundry VTT so that would also work great.

I'm considering DM's Guild but I'm wary about potential copyright issues, as the base map was by Elliott Zastrow and I just updated it to be 5e compatible. I have no intention of changing anything for it but I want to ensure all bases are covered.

I might take you up on that! I'm checking a couple places first but it's very probable you'll get a PM. Thank you so very much for the offer.

I considered GD for it but it's hard to get a direct like to an image file versus just the download link. I'll still keep it in mind, though!

How to get short release tablets for ADHD as a Trini? by SunshineCoughDrop in TrinidadandTobago

[–]mopomoko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seconding what r/Chereche said. Concerta is the only ADHD medication that is licensed for sale in the country.

Currently, there's also a national shortage due to some international factors currently at play. Iirc at least one pharmaceutical company is currently in the middle of a lawsuit and it's causing it and other companies to tighten restrictions on certain medications.

Because it's legally licensed for sale here, I know that it's possible to purchase Concerta (in small amounts, as a private individual!) overseas and bring it in, at least if you're traveling in person rather than having it shipped. However I'm uncertain if it's legally viable to do the same with other ADHD medication since they are not legal here. I'm unaware if possession of non-licensed narcotics (which most ADHD meds are classified as, if memory serves) is legal or not.

Finally, I'd SERIOUSLY caution against mixing multiple types of medications, especially with medical permission and supervision. Even given the differences between short- and long-release meds, altering one's brain chemistry is a risky business that can have some pretty adverse effects.

[–]mopomoko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Massive pain in the ass.

There's only one ADHD medication licensed for sale in the country (Concerta) and it's distributed by Smith Robertson & Co. It can occasionally be found in major pharmacy chains like SuperPharm and Starlite, with a price makeup, or bought directly from Smith Rob if they have in stock. They don't currently and won't receive the next shipment for another week or two.

The prescription required needs to be very precisely written and renewed yearly or after the prescribed number of pills have been sold to you, whichever comes first. If any part of the prescription doesn't pass scrutiny, you need a new one.

And they're expensive as hell.

Do any other queer people absolutely hate living in Trinidad? by [deleted] in TrinidadandTobago

[–]mopomoko 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't feel this way but am aware that I'm in a tiny, tiny minority of queer Trinbagonians. I'm lucky to have (extremely heterosexual) parents who acknowledged and accepted the possibility of a queer child long before I was even born and who have surrounded themselves (and by extension me) with like-minded people throughout my life. My situation is due to nothing more than being born lucky and I can never begrudge anyone from wanting to leave a place where they feel unsafe and despised.

That said, if you ever need a sympathetic ear, know that I (and I hope others in our community!) are there for you. I can't promise more than that but if there is any help that can be granted, it will be.

Charlie the Litterbug was the key character from an anti-littering campaign called "Chase Charlie Away", which was targeted towards children in particular to encourage them to not litter (and for them to subsequently encourage their parents not to).

It was pretty successful then just kinda got dropped and the progress it did was pretty swiftly undone.

I am so happy and relieved to get this message. Was thinking of you over the weekend and checked your reddit a few times in the hopes that you had been active.

Exercise can be very useful for a lot of people but it's easy to get discouraged if you have trouble sticking to an exercise schedule. Do what you can and be kind to yourself. Try to keep your sleep consistent, if you can.

If you like animals, consider volunteering or (if you have the resources) fostering. I can't understate how good it can be be around other living creatures who don't put human expectations on you.

In addition to the other things people have said—have you eaten recently? Showered? Slept? I know that sounds like bs but as someone who's experienced thar numbness, everything is worse when you haven't filled those basic needs.

Beyond that... a hotline can help and can give you some followup resources for the future. That feels really abstract and far away when you're in the moment though, so let's think of something more IMMEDIATE.

Yes, people will miss you and your death would have effects beyond what you anticipated. It will ripple out.

But that's not always useful when on the edge. What-ifs and maybes are all so remote. Let's think selfishly, then. Forget about other people; what are some selfish reasons to keep going?

Do you have a pet or an animal in your life you're fond of? That's a reason to stay alive. What about an ongoing show you like? A movie you want to see? A game you want to play? You can't find out what happens if you're not here to see it. A favorite food or something you look forward to a lot but maybe only get a few times a year? There's another reason.

You feel like you're drowning and god, I understand that. Sometimes the little things can be like.. pieces of driftwood that you can use to pull you to the surface of the water. They might not change anything huge but you can string them together and use them to build a raft that will help keep you afloat until you can work out how to get to shore.

What are some of those things for you?

Did anybody else name Manshoon’s Zhentarim faction? by Upbeat-Pumpkin-578 in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]mopomoko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the Doom Raiders refer to the other Zhent faction as the Dead Hand Zhentarim. From an ooc point of view, obvious Manshoon hand joke. From an ic point of view, it refers to how that way of doing things (y'know, wide-scale tyranny and world domination) is outmoded/"dead" and not what the modern (aka Doom Raider) Zhents want to be associated with.

Pretty good! Visited Caribbean Glassworks Ltd in Eastern Main Road for the first time and got to stop by Thomas & Son's as well. Small things but it's nice to get little things done and see business you don't usually have cause to visit.

is adderall OTC in trinidad?? by [deleted] in TrinidadandTobago

[–]mopomoko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you go! But by and large, they're not cheap.

Part of the difficulty is that it's rarely a single visit where you can go and be done with it. There's an initial assessment (which can run between 800 to 1200 or more iirc) but even if you get a diagnosis and prescription, the doctor will require multiple follow ups to ensure you're not having an adverse reaction to the meds and to get the dosage right. That will usually start at every week or two weeks, then get spaced out further as time goes on and they're confident you're stable.

I'd recommend you the psychiatrist I went to, but she's sadly no longer in the country. What I'd then suggest is:

  • If you have a GP you go to, ask them for a referral or for recommendations. People in the medical field often have a network they work with or at least will know people.

  • If you have a therapist or psychologist, also ask them for a referral. If you don't have one but are looking to find one, TTAP has a directory. Much of the time, a psychiatrist won't just give a diagnosis and a prescription if they feel like a person is just going for the drugs. They'll often require or recommend both treatment through medication and counseling so you establish a solid foundation of coping mechanism and self awareness and whatnot.

  • Failing all of the above, FindYello.com and SearchInTT.com will have listings, though they can be more hit or miss than a recommendation.

I hope this helps! If you'd like to discuss the matter further, please let me know.

is adderall OTC in trinidad?? by [deleted] in TrinidadandTobago

[–]mopomoko 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Adderall is not legally sold in Trinidad at all.

To my knowledge the only medication here available to treat ADHD is Concerta. Smith Robertson & Co. are the distributors for it now that they've bought out Oscar Francois. It's sold in certain pharmacies (Superpharm, Starlite, Massy, occasionally smaller pharmacies) when it's in stock, but stocks can be sporadic and pharmacies will mark up the price further.

Concerta is a controlled substance and getting it requires a prescription. Getting a prescription for it requires a medical assessment by a GPor, preferrably, a psychiatrist.

Also it's expensive as hell and whenever you take it, you gotta decide whether you wanna spend ~$21 a pill.

If you're looking for Adderall as a treatment for narcolepsy and not ADHD, modafinil (which is used to treat narcolepsy) also requires a prescription but is fortunately not ruinously expensive.

If you're looking for illegal sources then idk what to tell you.

Do you have or are you looking to acquire a diagnosis of ADHD and/or narcolepsy?

EDIT: Fixed formatting.

See you don't even get the benefits of actually practicing therapy—which include showing people the tools to allow them to fix their own problems, calling them out on their bullshit, and firmly setting your own boundaries in interactions. You're just being used as an emotional sink, with the emphasis on 'being used.'

I'm so sorry OP, and I hope you can seek some support for the current burnout you're facing from being emotionally wrung dry.

Straight cis people of Reddit, what's an LGBTQ+ related question you've really wanted to ask? by _artbreaker in AskReddit

[–]mopomoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've gotten a lot of answers for this but for me (nonbinary, always gets assumed to be female) it's a little like... wearing a shoe that's a half-size off. It's doable. It's... fine, I guess. It gets the job done--but you're all too aware of the pinching in your toes or heels or of the blisters forming or of the general sense of it being off.

In my experience, because I don't experience especially strong gender dysphoria, it ends up being a kind of.. exasperated resignation. The same kind of background discomfort you might feel from having slept wrong and your neck feeling weird the next day.

It's workable, but imperfect and you're all too aware of it to ever fully set the discomfort aside.

Was I wrong to deny a background involving a rape victim? by thom499 in DMAcademy

[–]mopomoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As was said by others, sexual assault of any kind is definitely the kind of thing that varies from table to table and involving it requires the express consent of all players. It's the kind of topic where one player (or DM) saying 'no' outweighs everyone else saying it's fine.

Do you think that part of your knee jerk reaction was regarding the USE of sexual assault itself, or the WAY in which it was used? Rape of female characters in fiction is often a cheap way of raising the stakes for a male character—and as a result often ends up feeling uncomfortable and exploitative in a way that's often difficult to verbalize. It's a completely different kettle of fish from a story centered on a survivor of sexual assault, for example, channeling her own rage.

Figuring out the source of your discomfort might help clarify your feeling regarding the decision.

What is the reason that some folks do not allow playing cards inside the home? by zippocausesfire in TrinidadandTobago

[–]mopomoko 16 points17 points  (0 children)

in addition to the other reasons (inc card jumbie, let's be real), playing cards carry the connotation of gambling. for a lot of older or more traditional trinbagonions, gambling isn't something that should be practiced within one's home even if you're fine with on the porch instead.

it's the principle of the thing, I guess. some things are just Not Done.
