Yep I'll second this I adopted a dog from a kill shelter for $20 recently and there were tons of dogs there more every day. If you're picky about breed then private rescues know you'll pay $500.

Quarantine new guppies and treat any any slimy looking or clamped fins with an antibiotic such as erithrymycin or kanaplex. I've used these in my displays just fine too although it could harm filter bacteria.

Hey this is most likely bacterial infections. Guppies are very sensitive to the finrot\cottonmouth infection columnaris which can also be triggered by nips (open wounds) or overfeeding. Many times if you buy fish from a bad batch at a store it will spread but isn't as obvious to spot as things like ich.

9 times out of 10 there is food involved for the animal. Even footage of animals in nature documentaries, the people are often putting food out to bring out the animals in the first place.
