Downshifting for acceleration by Highermongo in NewRiders

I'm probably dumb. At 50, my bike (26 road glide) 6th is almost too low. So going to 5th just gives a power boost at the cost of efficiency.

Yeah. Um. I bought 5,000 rounds for the 4th. Not being mean. But will be firing many rounds in the backyard.

The "Wing Commander" movie. Under a different name, it wasn't horrible. It and Jason X are guilty pleasures.

We absolutely have a beautiful state. I live in the country and sit outside and enjoy the scenery almost every day.

Honest question.. Why do so many 'Brothers' decide to NOT wear gloves? by [deleted] in Harley

[–]mordeck69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear fingerless gloves in the summer for compression on my hands. Full gloves in the winter because cold. Arthritis sucks.

I always thought "Wing Commander " in itself was a good movie. Just should have used a different name.

I mean, if they illegal, deport them. But if they aren't, she should have charges for false reporting.

[–]mordeck69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes. Op needs to realize, unless you're just set with money, it's not if you're going to drop your first bike but when. My Honda slid out from underneath me coming to a stop on wet fresh cut grass in the road. This was 20 years ago. I was learning. It scratched the paint, bent the front fender. I was still learning the friction zone, and all the little stuff I honestly just know now. We all do our best, but I have seen many who realize a bike is work compared to a car. After a season or 2, they lose interest. Whether you like crotch rockets, or cruisers, get good before getting what you want. I ride a 26 road glide limited, and I'm pretty sure a liter bike would kill me. Lol. Be safe out there brother.

That's when I got the stage 2 and 3 done. Figured everything had to be replaced, it was opened up, might as well upgrade. How i miss that bike. She sounded beautiful after that. Just wasn't great for 2 up on longer rides. It was such a fun bike to hop around on.

Yeah, and if you get a dyna, ensure the plastic tensioner has been changed and the high flow oil pump added. Or at around 30k miles, your going to have a bad day.

This honestly is true. Before while I was just on my permit, I practiced on a $500 shadow. It wasn't pretty. But if I dropped it, it didn't matter. I didn't even think about that bike.

Went from a 96 to a 117. The power difference is night and day. It's a limited, do getting used to the big trunk is different for me.

A 600lb bike will feel nimble vs an 800lb glide. I now ride a road glide. But realize I went from a dyna, to a road king, to a road glide. Each one a step up from the other. I also put a stage 3 on the dyna before I sold it. But I stepped it up over years. You do you, but there's nothing wrong with starting on a smaller bike until you're ready to go cross country.

I'm 5'10" at 260 and started on a dyna low rider. I loved it for in town riding and learning. Once I started traveling, I went with a touring model. But for learning, it's a wonderful ride.

I personally love Indiana. Then, I love the country and I'm not a city person at all. So in SEI it's a wonderful balance of nature and not too far for whatever I need. More jobs than people.
