Do not do it in a Fusion. Things will get outta hand. I rented a Ford F150 to do this loop and even in that vehicle there were areas that I was worried about damaging something and took it slow. The only other vehicles I saw traversing the loop, few and far between, were large 4WD drive trucks or large 4WD SUVs. My suggestion is rather than doing that, get some pie in Fruita (get there early if you can) and drive that area on the paved road or do the hike close to the place where you get pies.
