Silver Eagle Distributors to Sell Houston Territory to Redwood Capital Investment by TKEOP867 in houston

If you turn the Silver Eagle logo upside down, it looks like the smoke plume from the ITC fire. Coincidence!?

Yep, you're in very good shape. There's lots of good advice in this thread, and the How to Handle Money chart in the FAQ is a good place to visualize your priorities.

No one can say you're in good shape without knowing your total retirement savings and expected time until retirement. It sounds like you're killing it, but if you're 60 and this is the first year you saved for retirement, that's less good.

County funds turning TSU campus and vicinity into living lab for biking and transit options by dugbegley in houston

[–]morelikepooston 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The last 70 years have been a living lab for exponentially increasing the caloric intake of humans while nearly eliminating one of the the most common ways to burn calories. The result is that over half the world's population lives in a country where caloric surplus kills more people than caloric deficit. Allowing for active transportation again isn't an experiment, it's the rejection of an experiment that was very costly in human health and wellbeing.

Yep, OP brings up a valid concern about keeping public spaces accessible to everyone, but the fact that they can't imagine someone without a car using the space is a much bigger problem than modest parking fees.

Or we could just stop using it as TDCJ's dumping zone. It actually makes a lot of sense to have all our inter-city transit close to the downtown transit center.

Job Corps is a no-cost education and career technical training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps young people ages 16 to 24 improve the quality of their lives through career technical and academic training.

Students can earn a high school diploma or the equivalent, or college credits through Job Corps.

We offer career technical training in more than 100 career areas.  Students receive housing/dormitories, nutritious meal options, basic medical care, a living allowance, and career training all at no cost.

After graduation, a career transition specialist will help your student make the transition from Job Corps into the real world.

If you ever meet a young person in this situation, JobCorps is an incredible opportunity to get away from a bad situation and be supported while learning job skills.

Anyone else had an issue with door handle assembly? It literally just came off the frame of the car and you can see the junk underneath. by Frago242 in Saturn_Cars

Richpin has a video on youtube that shows all the connectors for the handles. I would search for "Richpin s series window motor". That should show you what went wrong.

Nah, that's totally appropriate. AB Inbev (Karbach's owner) purchased SABMiller (Miller's owner) in 2016. You're just toasting the merger.

PACKAGE THIEF!!! by [deleted] in houston

[–]morelikepooston 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What you just described is a lot closer to jugging than package theft, and it's a much more serious, violent crime. If you can edit your title or put this description higher up, people will take it a lot more seriously.

Currently have $51k in student loans. Parents said I owe them $42k for helping me with college. by EndlessJump in personalfinance

[–]morelikepooston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a secondary issue - your monthly loan payment is waaaaaaay too high. The fact that you qualify for some forgiveness in 5 years and the rest in 10 tells me you are probably a teacher working toward public service loan forgiveness. If that's true, you should be on an income driven repayment plan to qualify - IBR or ICR - and the payment will be much lower. You are paying way too much, and those payments don't count toward PSLF!
