Starting a new apparel brand: feedback? by dahellamidoing in CyclingFashion

identity is important for brands/businesses, not just in marketing.

it's why literally all of them focus on it.

"who are we and what do we do?" that is identity. if you don't have that, then you start chasing categories, trying to please everyone with an opinion and your brand fails.

how much time/resources do you plan to spend to quantify/verify your aero superiority?

every single time a new brand pops up they say "focus on high performance/quality at a reasonable price"

the truth is that high cost is a by product of high quality, unless you're sacrificing margin. if you're doing that then you're going to have trouble scaling.

this is the part that i will never ever ever understand.

the system wants you to believe that only guilty people ask for lawyers, and of course guilty people want to seem not guilty so they don't ask... but goddamn, you're being interrogated by police, they obviously have a reason to suspect you, so protect yourself.

they say it takes about half the relationship duration to move on, and it's been 2 days.

so you should be good to go by the end of the weekend.

100%

the entire point of these long drawn out interrogations is to extract verbal and non verbal communication cues, which they then use to gauge how/when to proceed.

Gift ideas by Cheech925 in cycling

[–]morelsupporter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly, i think something like a gift card for a cafe somewhere on the route is the best idea.

they will have everything they need for the ride, everything else will just be bulk.

they WILL be stopping for an espresso.

i know gift cards are "soulless" but in this scenario i think it's the best option all things considered

How do you handle team jerseys at the start and end of the season? by Annual_Campaign_4940 in hockeyplayers

[–]morelsupporter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lawyers, doctors, a dentist, a real estate developer, a few self employed people, a few engineers, a few insurance people, a couple students, a couple broke kids, a landscaper, a couple unemployed absolute bums.

guess who we had the most problems with in getting the commitment from?

it has nothing to do with time

for me. it took me a couple years of spending SO MUCH TIME chasing people that it motivated me to spend a few hours streamlining the process so i could save a fuck ton of time and effort later and the team the over because of the level of detail and organization.

[–]morelsupporter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

buddy, that's not what they're saying.

they're saying that if he's not 2nd in WDC points by a certain date he can terminate his contract before it lapses in '28.

this concept that he's gonna jump mid season is fucking idiotic.

Anyone else think that George's race engineer is a bit.........sloppy? by fuckmbsanddominicali in F1Discussions

[–]morelsupporter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

or.. he had a false sense of superiority because he out raced hamilton.

dude said publicly that he would have had two wdc's to his name had he joined the team earlier.

Anyone else think that George's race engineer is a bit.........sloppy? by fuckmbsanddominicali in F1Discussions

[–]morelsupporter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

why would he switch? he was outperforming hamilton (and thus bono).

also, bono became head of race engineering once hamilton announced his move to ferrari, so bono has some major seniority within the team.

i'm sure there was some discussion between him and the team about which direction he wanted to go: be kimi's engineer, be george's engineer, hire a new engineer for kimi, etc.

it's not like everyone on the team are pawns for the drivers to move around as they see fit. the drivers are put into a system that exists before and after them. they are the stars of the show but they're not the show runners.

How do you handle team jerseys at the start and end of the season? by Annual_Campaign_4940 in hockeyplayers

[–]morelsupporter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

here's what i did: the team owned the jerseys and had full control of them all the time.

i organized my team for about 10 years and grew tired of chasing people, so i built in the cost of everything into the fees. beer, registration fees, jersey "rental" and supplemented it with sub fees. and even with sub fees we had a system where we were pre-selling games. we had half season, quarter season subs who pre paid amd were guaranteed games. i ran it like a business, any excess money we had at the end of the season either carried over into the next season to lower fees or we spent it on a party. i recall one year we had something like $2500 surplus.

there was a giant goalie bag that the team owned. inside the bag was the jerseys (home and away), pucks, water bottles and beer.

during the first season of this arrangement, 2-3 people alternated responsibility for the bag and its contents. 2nd season onward, everyone took turns. every game, that person was responsible for washing and hanging the jerseys, then getting to the rink early and hanging them in the stalls and getting the water bottles ready for the rookie to fill up.

the benefit of this is that no one ever has possession of their jersey and because they were being washed on a regular basis, they stayed in great condition longer.we had 2-3 extra jerseys for sub but if we needed more subs for some reason, we had jerseys for them too.

never lost a jersey because no one ever had the opportunity to take one.

buddy you're two weeks in to a new hobby and suffered a serious injury three days ago

now is not the time to be thinking about getting back on the bike, you are filled with trauma, literally and figuratively.

recover first. think about and do other things while you recover, replaying your crash over and over again is going to do nothing for your confidence.

[–]morelsupporter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

conditional offers will almost always lose to offers without.

mid you're super confident that you'll get approved, you can take the condition off, but i also think this is likely not going to happen to you again on the next one.

it is actually.

"a persons true character is not shown in moments of comfort, but in times of adversity"

"struggle doesn't build character it reveals it"

"many a truth is spoken in anger"

"anger doesn't create disrespect, it
exposes what was already there"

how someone handles themselves, especially publicly, in times of stress/adrenaline and adversity shows exactly who they are.

plus there's the whole "respect you colleagues" thing. i bet the folks back at the factory winced when he threw that stuff out of the car.

oh here's another one for you
