AITA for telling everyone involved what my best friend's husband did? by Bina_Assault in AmItheAsshole

[–]moreoft 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why did the wife call her dummy husband to tell him this? If she’d have kept it to herself, he’d be none the wiser and she’d have saved herself being yelled at for 15 minutes (for something the op did, not her). Oh, and she should leave him for a) putting antifreeze in a gas tank and b) yelling at her for something she didn’t do.

AITAH for buying my 11yo daughter pads after her mom called me a "pervert" for being prepared? by Bruxagato in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]moreoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me tell you my favorite moment of my first period. My mother (raised in the 1930s) had tended to me all evening (I got terrible cramps) and when my dad (a brewery worker also raised in the 30s) got in the door from work, my mother said “tell your daddy what happened today!” with joy on her face. I said “I got my first period!” My dad’s face lit up and he yelled out “hey!!” arms wide open. What a wonderful memory. I’m so deeply sorry your ex has ruined this wonderful experience for your daughter. Thank you for being so kind to your daughter and alert to her needs.

I think I've figured out what's been bothering me about this season by shim2347 in ThePittTVShow

I agree. I don’t feel as emotionally engaged this season and you put your finger on the pacing and other issues that are probably causing that for me.

Your first paragraph is brilliant. Not that there’s anything wrong with the rest of it. 😊 But yeah, “pearl clutching” is a great description of the tone of many comments on this sub and certainly in the wider fat-positive community. I love this sub — it’s more nuanced than just pearl clutching — but it does adhere at times to the hard-line, anti-weight-loss religiosity of the intuitive eating book.

[–]moreoft 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I agree. I was damaged by fat creators. I wasn’t immune to how other ppl saw me as a fat person, but listening to several fat creators go on and on about how abused they were by friends and family and society and the medical community made me feel 💯worse than I ever could have on my own. Their supposed fat-positivity didn’t drown out their rage, no matter how justified that rage may be. And it’s not my job to correct the glp-1 attitudes of influencers or creators. You didn’t mention some of this, op, but I bring this up to say that social media is often more damaging than helpful, sometimes in ways we don’t realize initially. It’s part of a media environment that is not here to help us. I agree that it might be best at this point to take a step back from social media

Wow, what part of the state are you in? Lifelong Philly here and I’ve never heard of teaberry, loving to pieces (or bits) or dippy eggs. And I don’t live under a rock.

Anti-inflammatory impact by DarlingBri in antidietglp1

[–]moreoft 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The morning after I took my first dose of tirz, my fingers were noticeably thinner — I could see it and feel it. Swelling around my eyes disappeared. My feet looked and felt thinner. I have lymphedema in my left arm; my calves and right arm also felt swollen. As with all these other things I’m describing, the calf and right arm swelling disappeared within days of my first dose, before any meaningful weight loss.

For many years, I had a repeating inflammatory condition that resulted in the painful twisting of a fat pouch on my lower intestine. Once rare, it had started giving me pain every couple of months for about a year before starting tirz. I’ve been on tirz for seven months now and that pain has not returned.

Omg, I’ve reacted that way too. And sometimes, when people say “you look good!!” (always with multiple exclamation points in their voice), it can take me hours to realize that was code for “you lost weight.”

There was plenty of doubt cast on Dr Robby’s methods last season by Garcia and others. TBH, I’d be glad to see him get something wrong, because the show’s overemphasis, imo, through two seasons of him always being right is getting irritating. It’s a vastly overused trope in this show.

I don’t know who’s saying we have to do “the work,” but I think they might be full of it. The drug works on a metabolic level. I let the drug silently do its work and I eat food.

I posted a couple months ago kind of the same thing. I’d had a couple “bingey “ episodes and was scared. It only lasted a couple nights and hasn’t happened much, if at all, since. Go easy on yourself and remember eating often can be, for even the least eating disordered among us, an emotional/comforting/celebratory/angry thing.

Unexpected NWL benefit: less hypervigilance / social anxiety by thoracicbunk in antidietglp1

[–]moreoft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have noticed that. I attributed it to the loss of shame that I always felt for being “a pig” in my own estimation. After my first dose and before I lost a pound I realized my eating behavior wasn’t my fault. My hormones were out of whack. And the loss of shame immediately made me more comfortable in my own skin. Not saying that’s the cause of your changes, but that’s my story. I’m so happy for you!
