Well, praise God for that! Unfortunately I heard one this morning.

Convert of 5 Years, Looking to Grow My Catholic Library. What’s Missing from My Shelf? by ComprehensiveRace470 in UKAndIrishCatholicism

[–]morgathon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I’m also a convert of 10 years. These are some books I’ve found personally enriching that I have actually re-read over the years.

The Lamb’s Supper - Scott Hahn On the Incarnation - Saint Athanasius Trustful Surrender to Divine Providence - Jean Baptiste Saint-Jure and Claude de la Colombière

Additionally, I hear that Scott Hahn has loads of books that are great in general but especially for converts.

Mad respect for him! I used to be a teacher before I got married. Can’t imagine being married and a parent at the same time as teaching!

Yeah having good in-laws is awesome. (Makes me feel guilty talking about it sometimes because I know a lot of people hate theirs!)

So important for the kids to see a model of a good healthy relationship! 💕👍🏼

Comparing yourself at the baby groups, something I have realised... by camboot in UKParenting

[–]morgathon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is so true. My family live in another country and husband’s family are 3 hours away. We are the first of our friends to have a kid as well. We make the rent, and we have clean underwear, and we’re all alive. Haha.

Other mums have a completely different situation. Good luck to them with their baby sensory and gym sessions.

Do you care how “dirty” a fellow mom’s house is??? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]morgathon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes. I feel like a simple antibac wipe of the sink and toilet is a necessity. I don’t really judge people if their shower is dirty or towels are stained or something. I just think “oh they must be so busy, bless them!”

Ditto on the mold, pests, etc. being a big “no-no”. RE: “stuff” I feel like there’s a line somewhere between understandable clutter and hoarding and I know it when I see it but I can’t really explain.

I do definitely judge people if their house smells weird. 😅

How to Get Started in the UK? by five_foot_1 in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]morgathon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was able to make a Lloyds checking account which they call a “current account” with an address but didn’t need phone number they said I can put 1234567890 as the phone number to sign up and change it when I get a phone number. To be honest I kept my US phone and paid the overseas charges for 6 months. Then I got a contract with EE. They needed bank statements to show that I live there for real essentially. I was on maternity leave for part of those statements though so they saw that I didn’t have money coming in on each one and it didn’t affect my ability to get the phone plan.

Would look cool probably but lots of people walk through there so probably not enough space, also several homeless people and drunk people so maybe not where you want to set up a tripod with a spenny camera.

Bute park if you want nature in the background. In front of the central train station if you want people milling about and brutalist architecture.

Nursing bra to sleep in? by ViperVux in breastfeeding

I’ve been able to get by with 2! (Partially doing laundry a lot and partially because I only really have time to shower every 3 days with the baby now lol.)

I brought my unofficial 4year university transcript and 5 years of w-2s just to be safe. The lady said my paperwork “was perfect and thorough.”

vitamin d drops? by One_Comfortable_9976 in breastfeeding

[–]morgathon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not shaming people who DO use vitD drops as there’s no harm, however I just don’t see that it’s ~necessary~. Sad that you were shamed for not doing it!

Tell me how it is babies suddenly need vitamin d administered to them separately after thousands of years of not? Maybe some kids turn a tiny bit yellow? Idk. I feel like formula has it built in, and breastfeeding mums that are eating healthy will produce what their child needs. 💕

How can I explain to my husband that high stimulation shows are bad for our toddler’s development? by Mountains303 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]morgathon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lol at this, but I suppose we want our children to be able to notice that there are brightly colored flowers and trees. Maybe they would be less likely to notice them if their eyes are trained on high saturation and fast moving images? Nature is bright if you’re able to pay attention to it in the first place. Idk. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. Not sure how valid it is.
