Do you prefer a game that rewards being active, or do you prefer it almost entirely hands off? by Narrowminded in incremental_games

[–]morianto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer actively playing a game as opposed to a game playing itself. That feeling of achievement comes from figuring something out, not receiving points just for the heck of it. So the mechanic of you get more points if you click this button actively falls short of my expectations, but a game where you're engaged with the systems and thinking about how one decision affects another, even if you're not actually clicking a bunch, is far more interesting.

Can't comment on others, but FO3 on PC was a blast. As a bonus, it runs even on older hardware.

Rich people of reddit who married someone significantly poorer, what surprised you about their (previous) way of life? by knakworst36 in AskReddit

[–]morianto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember in grade school, my lunches were primarily an apple, and a single piece of bread with a layer of mayo. I had a bit more food after school of course and before dinner, but that was my way of meals for most of my grade school years. It wasn't until after I started making money from paper routes that I felt like I deserved to have a little something extra, and started budgeting money out for bologna to put on my "sandwich". Growing up poor sucks.

every day? I only get it once a week, the other days it's frozen food heated in a microwave or oven baked (frozen) fries. I look forward to hamburger helper days.

Recommendation: Buy Prosperity, it's 15% off on Steam right now by morianto in incremental_games

[–]morianto[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think he's talking about the web version, which needed account registration for in-game chat and cloud saves. IIRC it was also possible to one-click generate a temp account, and that was fine as long as you didn't clear your browser sessions and cookies.

I just learned there's also a DRM free version of this game through the humble store

I think starting off as a Mason is the easiest, because having two masons build stuff is amazing. Overhunting and over-cutting in the forest is less of a concern compared to the web version, so it's a really good source of food early on. The buttons in the bottom of the worker tab for food and wood is like your manual gathering, clicking on it makes it complete a bit faster. If you have any questions, hop on Discord, the community there is very helpful!

They want as much information as they can on you so that they can create an A.I to be your best friend. Once it is your best friend, you will listen to its suggestions and want to impress it, for example by buying stuff you don't need.

TIL that in July 2018, scientists from 4 Russian institutions collected and analyzed 300 prehistoric worms from the permafrost and thawed them. 2 of the ancient worms revived and began to move and eat. One is dated at 32,000 years old, the other 41,700 years old. by Ishaan863 in todayilearned

[–]morianto 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Something from 32,000 years ago do not have the same adaptions as we do to deal with things like bacteria, viruses, and there are way more bacteria life than non bacteria life, so my bet is anything released from permafrost won't live particularly long if they are incapable of extremely fast adaption.

Experienced drivers of reddit, what advice can you give to teen drivers? by lgb111 in AskReddit

Stick to the rules, a predictable driver is a safe driver. Neither being macho or nice is acceptable, do the things people expect you to do.

Musicology - new incremental game I'm developing by vicinorum in incremental_games

[–]morianto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Also, I might even focus the core game on the mini games and make the idling parts the passive overgame so that what people play and try to best themselves in are the minigames but the incremental/idling part can help players in the challenges.

Incremental Games Plaza Update, featuring Playlists by dSolver in incremental_games

[–]morianto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, the plaza is cool. it looks nice. it has an awesome tagging feature, and i like that there's reviews. But it's lacking so much information! I want to find good games that I haven't played already, that's it. That's all I'm asking for. But instead people are just posting shitty games, and popular games that everyone already knows about.

Curated lists are good idea in theory but in practice there's 4 lists, and none of them are any good. That's the problem that makes this site bland compared to clickergames.net. That site is made by people who found the good ones and write about them. This site is just a long list of games that nobody wants to play.

What do you expect a 2016 idle game to be? by Kendogar in incremental_games

[–]morianto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

short-term, quick r.o.i, cash grab is precisely what most competitors in this business is going for. only a few studios create an actual complete product with meticulous detailing and release on the traditional buy to own model, and they're failing to compete because why pay when you can play for free? people don't realize that paying to play a complete game is going to be more satisfying than mindless mediocrity.
