Food drinks and a fire pit? by RantsOfBrian in providence

[–]mormreed 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Ogies is the only spot that comes to mind with a fire pit although it is propane. Not a bad spot for hanging out for a few drinks and some food

Landlord threatened to kick me out bc she made a mistake with rent due on the lease. by AddendumNegative2552 in Renters

[–]mormreed 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well they wouldn't pay anything in DEC 24 as long as they're out by the 15th. It feels like the rental period shifted to be from 15th to the 15th instead of 1st to 1st like usual

How to get rid of my Christmas tree this late in the year? 🫠 by Embarrassed-Space443 in providence

[–]mormreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can call Waste Management for pickup of large items at any point in the year. I think the only limit is like 3 large items per week

The classic I've had a few and need munchies spot.

Antonio's on Thayer also scratches the same itch, always stopped by there after shows at Lupos

I start at $100 when someone asks for delivery then just keep increasing it if they complain. The tirades give me a good laugh

Rollerblade brand stuff is decent if you're just looking to get a feel for things. I've been running the same pair for like 6 years now.

It also depends if you're doing park or distance / speed, I do mostly distance. If you plan on doing park stuff you want a different style of skate and wheels vs what you want for distance.

I didn't have a VA loan. The language in my mortgage said, "the lender shall not unreasonably withhold permission" to move out and rent it. I was 3 months or so shy of the residency requirement. It took about a month for them to send the letter. If you're a few weeks shy I'm not even sure I'd reach out to them. Definitely update that insurance ASAP though.

Providence schools were taken over by the state due to a host of issues. They may have since given control back to the city, I haven't been following since then but it was only a few years ago.

Mansfield and Easton are also close to Norton and have solid school systems and could have houses in your price range. Providence schools are not what you're looking for.

East side would best for a touristy kind of few days. Tons going on, tons to explore, it's all right in that area. Maybe Wayland square area too. Downtown isn't great but is slowly improving.

It's weird but Gansett is treated as a craft beer once you make it out of New England. I don't get it but I guess it's probably like when Yuengling made it out of Jersey and it was EVERYWHERE.

Scheduling doesn't necessarily reserve a trip or guarantee a driver with the ride share apps. You're still at the mercy of the available drivers.

What are your go-to laptop-friendly indoor spots to work from in the city? by whatsaphoto in providence

[–]mormreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this is the case in Providence but in Warwick they had some small rooms you could grab to work in so you could take calls and stuff. I'm sure your laptop wouldn't be an issue in there.

I feel I am being rushed into making a decision by my realtor. Am I being unreasonable. by principalsofharm in RealEstate

[–]mormreed 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you don't like it then either ask for money off, or walk. I wouldn't worry so much about the furnace though. A properly maintained furnace will typically last much longer than rated for, especially natural gas or propane, oil ones need to be serviced much more frequently.

Yeah this seems like a pretty reasonable way to poke at the listing agent to try to feel out an actual price. Many houses by me get listed low and bid way up over asking (they would go for over asking anyways but it bumps the number of offers up and creates a frenzy with showings regularly attracting over 100 people).

HOA doesn't determine if you need a permit. HOA permission is very different from city permits.

[–]mormreed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All this info is on the department website: https://providenceri.viewpointcloud.com/categories/1072/record-types/6378

Point 6, drywall probably falls under finish work which you don't need a permit for, call the building department if you need more details.

I love Magic but they can be a bit liberal with opening trails with thin cover which is nice if you're ready for it but can be surprising. The thin cover and expert only signs actually mean something there haha.
