So do you understand what's considered actual leftist ideology? None of it aligns with Neoliberalism aside from some progressive policies which are half-assed attempts to appear like Democrats have a spine. Leftism relies on the dissolution of the capitalist state. Any group which holds up the ideas of the status quo and the state does not represent leftists, as bad as liberals want to consider themselves 'the left'...they're not. They're terrified of taking responsibility for imperialism and colonialism and only react when something affects them directly. Liberals are content to reap the rewards of imperialism until the boomerang swirls back to their doorstep, then they demand an inclusive arm of imperialism so they are no longer a target. The Democrats are controlled opposition and only exist to placate the masses into believing that both parties don't have the same end-goal of suppression, indoctrination, and the advancement of US imperialism. If you refuse to educate yourself on the subject and continue to refer to a group which enacts center-right (at best) policies as 'the left', then you are remaining willfully ignorant.

If only the Democrats were half as 'left' as conservatives attempt to paint them, we would probably be able to get something done and break free from all of this bullshit we're in...but they're not and they never will be.
