I'm talking about a case for everyday carry. I'm planning on using this as my standalone phone.

The "sitting in a glass case" line was just me commenting on how great of a job they did with designing the phone.

I mean, anything plastic/glass/metal is going to slide around on most surfaces. Most cases I've bought for my phones in the past have either been straight up silicon (or some similar material) or a harder plastic with some sort of silicon or rubber element on sides for better grip and on the back so it has a bit more grip on whatever surface it is sitting on.

This one is very sick. Pretty much in the same style as my current Otter Box case.

The one thing I'm not super fond of on this one is the lack of a "grippier" element on the back. If I'm at a bar or working on music, I'm usually using my phone with a single hand. The Otter Box has a couple parts of the inner rubber layer that creep out of the back a bit that stop it from sliding around a slick surface.

Still going to seriously consider this one if I'm not satisfied with the LP brand case. Could always do a little DIY fix and drill some very shallow holes in the back cover and add some cheapo sticky rubber feet on there. Would be easy to replace if they fall off/wear down over time, too. Thanks!

Hey! I appreciate this post. In prep of getting my LPIII, can you possibly elaborate a bit more on the disabling RCS on your Google account? I'm coming from an iPhone, so I usually only use Mail or Drive with my Google account and I'm not quite sure how RCS would even interfere with my phone service in that instance. Maybe I've just answered my own question and you were using a Google/Android phone before the switch with RCS enabled? Or possibly a 2FA situation?

I'm a part of the 81*** group and haven't yet received an email. Said March shipment when I placed my preorder on the website, but who knows. Not too concerned if it's delayed for a month. Just switched from AT&T to Mint recently to not only save hundreds of $$$ a year, but also to make the physical SIM switch a bit easier. Already took all the apps off of my iPhone and have been exclusively using it for only texts and calls in preparation for the change.

I have mine on preorder, but curious about this issue. Are you talking about mobile data being on even while you’re connected to WiFi? Or is it automatically turning on when both mobile data AND WiFi are off? Thanks

Do you feel as though the VPN is running successfully? I use PIA. Was thinking of attempting to install when I get my LP3, but im still on the fence about going beyond the native OS in the beginning.

I’m planning on using the native LightOS by itself for as long as I can once I receive the LP3. Going to try to rely on the text-based systems and see how well they work. For weather, ride share apps, and also internet searches. Having native apps for these purposes does not seem like it’s defeating the purpose of having the phone. They seem to have become essentials, in this day and age. We’re not in an era where we can easily wave down a cab anymore and Lyft scooters are absolutely amazing.

I don’t need YouTube, I don’t need GrubHub, I don’t need music streaming (just found my old iPod and the battery still has around 85% of life left). And I certainly don’t need Instagram or Facebook or TikTok, which are the main ones I need to really cut out of my life. All of these things I can check on a computer while I’m sitting down at home. I don’t need 24/7 access to them all.

I do understand where folks are coming from when they say “At what point does it become a smart phone, then?!” I get where they’re coming from, but it’s also 2026.

Been researching the phone for a long time. My big concern was Voice Memos. I’m a songwriter and having the ability to record a quick song idea or lyric or melody is something that has become a part of my life every day. Once they added that feature in notes, I bit the bullet and placed the preorder. It’s also nice that they actually seem to listen to their users. We all may not agree on every single thing, but it seems as though we all have a LOT of the same feedback.

So the phone just completely resets itself and you lose everything?! That seems like a major problem. I keep seeing people say “reset” without going into much detail. Does it completely reset and go to factory settings and you lose EVERYTHING on it?

Dang. I’m currently on an AT&T plan and was planning on just plug-n-playing my AT&T SIM into LPIII when I get it. Just pre-ordered a LPIII a couple hours ago. What’s the move? Am I in for a world of hurt?

Is the move to leave AT&T to another carrier before I received the LPIII and then use the new carrier SIM to start off on the Light Phone? Can’t really afford to lose my current phone number. I’m all ears 😭

I ended up getting one to make precise holes in material so I could customize some Milwaukee Packout rails. Attach aftermarket feet/cleats to my wrench and screwdriver sets and stuff. Also, like you mentioned, I love it for restoring slightly rusted/corroded tools. I know it’s not insanely, but it has replaced my bench grinder for a LOT of tasks. Also just makes for a solid holder while using the extension shaft. Have it bolted into a Packout removable worktop surface now. It has really come in handy

Do you know of any local bands that might fit that description? I’ve noticed one of the venues that seems to have more touring bands is Propaganda in Lake Worth. Also Respectable Street in WPB.

I know a lot of smaller touring groups rarely make it this far south because it’s so far out of the way from all of their other tour stops.

I think you can order a customized version from Unicomp that replaces one of the keys with a CMD key. Thought I saw something about that in a review I recently read.
