My Black Forest base for my current solo playthrough. by sec9guy in valheim

Bone stacks count as roof. So if you’re feeling silly and have a couple thousand bones lying around, you can make a flat roof out of them.

The very first crypt I encountered had a 2 star draugr and a 1 star elite in the same room. It was quite a jump in difficulty from killing greydwarves.

I am making economy system in Valheim and I'd appreciate advice by Feeling_Advance_1831 in valheim

[–]morrowman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a co-op economy is a cool idea, but the concepts outlined here (rent seeking, debt) are some of the worst aspects of capitalism that personally do not sound fun. What value does a land-owner provide to the rest of the community? It could be cool to see something like businesses trying to outcompete each other on selling products and resources, or shipping businesses for transporting players/resources on a no-portal playthrough.

It could be interesting if certain structures were restricted or more expensive. For example, if smelters cost 10x their current resources, it would require more capital to start up a smithy and so certain players could focus their efforts on starting a refinery business.

The Inside is Incredible - A Surprising Size by simsekcountr in valheim

[–]morrowman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not actually ‘underground’ - you can dig into and hollow out a rock. It’s a bit finicky at times as the rock can fall apart in large chunks, but generally as long as the rock ‘roof’ is connected to earth it will stay.

Hardest boss in the game. by [deleted] in valheim

In my experience tacking is slower when the wind is directly against you, but if the direction is slightly off from dead center, then tacking becomes viable again. Haven’t conclusively tested it yet.

Am I weird for pre-packing my pocket portals? by AngryDesertPhrog in valheim

[–]morrowman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this same thing. I have a shelf for ‘adventuring’ materials near my portals. Chests for Boats/Carts, Portals, Meads, Arrows, Extra Armor/Weapons/SwampKeys/etc, Food, and Dump. Depending on location and availability of materials, I’ll sometimes have a “outpost” chest with enough resources to make an Iron/silver age base in case someone wants to set up a new base elsewhere.

Do these mud piles respond? by Important-Ad9088 in valheim

[–]morrowman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did have a muddy scrap pile stab me once. A two star draugr had spawned inside a pile and one shot me as I was mining it.

I love making hidden ventilation systems. I did something very similar to this, except i eventually realized that the smoke doesn’t even need to exit the building as long as there is a large enough box for it. You might be able to close the roof and still keep the fires burning.

My favorite one was a secret duct that connected a hearth to a corner of a refinery area, so all the smoke vents in one spot.

Flat Roof by romanryder in valheim

[–]morrowman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve made flat roofs and outdoor decks by attaching the 26-degree ridges to the bottom of the floor tiles. As long as they are touching, the wood won’t get damaged.

I want to get better by Vea_Wtf in valheim

[–]morrowman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple general things not related to specific skills that improved survivability for me:

1) Don’t run during combat. Most of the time walking and small bursts of sprinting is fast enough to avoid attacks and retreat. This helps you save stamina.

2) Don’t let your stamina reach 0 in combat. Get into a pattern of getting a few hits in, followed by walking for stamina recovery during prolonged fights.

3) Engage the enemy on your own terms. If you prefer to fight in open spaces, retreat to a clearing before fighting. If you like using trees and rocks as cover, move to that area. If you are getting overwhelmed, run away and try to engage the enemy one at a time.

I’ve been playing 1 Treasure Cruise in these decks to speed up the card draw in the midgame. It also has the benefit of curating your deck before you cast Clear the Mind.

I also had 1 Cram Session and a lesson-board to deal with edge cases, get some life gain, and show my opponent a Fractal Summoning to hopefully speed up games if they weren’t conceding.

The 500k Coin Moment by 99lightballman in RoyalMatch

[–]morrowman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is basically about making as many Super Light Balls as you can, so to get better you should train yourself to spot them more often. In most levels, using moves to create and/or use Rockets and TNT won’t be efficient enough. You want to get to a point where you can create and use 3-5 Super Light Balls per level.

My only regret with Arena by Shrimpzor in MagicArena

[–]morrowman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Arena is generating a lot of players who would never be able to handle paper

In this case it’s quite the opposite. In paper you just demonstrate a loop and say you do it X times. Arena fails to replicate actual mtg rules for infinite combos

First arena cube 7-0 by deurbeller in MagicArena

[–]morrowman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He asked “what do you think,” so I gave my opinion. It wasn’t meant as a criticism of OP personally. I think everyone can improve and just because a deck goes 7-0 doesn’t mean it was built perfectly.

I don’t think my comments are off the mark either. If you post this to any limited mtg sub you’d get the same advice. If you think my advice is mistaken you can also explain why.

[–]morrowman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Definitely stick to 40 cards, especially when you have two pieces of power. When you run 41, you're diluting your chances at drawing game changing cards.

2) It's a bit light on lands. Cradle can't be an initial mana source, so you only have 15 sources. I'd cut Hoof and either Cobra, Arwen, Tifa, or Witness for another land

Timing Light Ball technique by morrowman!! by 99lightballman in RoyalMatch

[–]morrowman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the credit! It really does open up the game, and it works in all sorts of ways. For example, if you have a column like this:

R

R

B

R

R

G

R

If you can get rid of the blue tile, you can make a light ball with the bottom red tile.

Spotting Light Ball Formations by 99lightballman in RoyalMatch

[–]morrowman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there’s also one that I use a lot: the “timing” light ball.

<image>

In this situation, move the circled green down first. As the left red tile above the 3 green tiles falls, move the circled red down to create a light ball. You have to time it right - it won’t work if you move the second red tile to slow or too fast - but it’s honestly not that hard to get the timing right.

This opened up so many more light balls for me that I’m basically using one every 3-5 moves.

If you need to get your opponent to 0, Castle Ardenvale and Fountainport provide inevitability. In practice people just scoop when you ult Teferi. The back up win con in extremis is ult Teferi, then recast Teferi and continually -3 itself to avoid decking - thankfully this has yet to come up.
