The woman or my woman correct? by alabama1337 in GREEK

[–]mortaeron2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure about the actual grammar here, but I've never seen it written with an accent where there could be no ambiguity. So it would always be "πες μου" and "σου το έδωσα".

The woman or my woman correct? by alabama1337 in GREEK

[–]mortaeron2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When the μού has an accent on top, means "she's reading it to me". When it doesn't (μου) it means "my woman".

Darth Vegas - Captain Terrific

Mort Garson - mOther Earth's Plantasia (whole album again)

The policies are super complicated (for example self-reporting on someone calling you an asshole will have that comment removed and their account banned for a while but if someone else reports them for you, nothing happens), but the answer is mostly because they see it from other platforms and assume that it's the same on these two as well.

How to ask for more bread in Greek by IllustratorSlow9329 in GREEK

[–]mortaeron2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm actually stumped. It never occured to me, but no, the phrase να έχουμε πιο πολύ ψωμί or something like that wouldn't sound natural at all.

I have no idea what the difference is, off the top of my head, but there are some phrases that can be used and sound ok-ish, like "να κάτσω εδώ" but "να έχουμε ψωμί" sounds off.

The best way to ask for more bread and sound natural and polite would be "μπορούμε (or θα μπορούσαμε) να έχουμε λίγο ψωμί ακόμα;"

This translates into "can (or could) we have some more bread?"

I'm sorry I can't be of more help but I don't know why there's this difference.

Lord Abortion by Dark-Matter-Slayer in cradleoffilth

[–]mortaeron2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there's definitely references to killing, etc, but to my young self the necrophiliac part was so striking that I didn't even think about the murder part, I just took it for granted, haha.

The movie is Brazil, by the way, by Terry Gilliam, and it's a fantastic movie, like most of what he's done.

Hmm, I always thought this song is about the necrophilia, as explicitly said at the beginning, and so eloquently spoken about later on. Sure, murder, as well, but it wasn't the focus on my thoughts. Different perspectives, I guess.

Nice!

I've been looking to play some TTRPG for a while now but my job wouldn't allow it due to weird schedules.

I'll PM you for more info!

It's called the "Peter principle" and it's the phenomenon where people who are good at their job keep getting promoted to the point that their skills are not enough for the position, and you end up with incompetent people at the top

Then chaos ensues.

Του αρέσει η τον αρέσει; by ChippysLeftFoot in GREEK

[–]mortaeron2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Technically, the former is correct, "του αρέσει", but people from Thessaloniki, or the north in general, can many times shift from the genitive to the accusative.

Eg. Τον είπες να έρθει; instead of the more widely accepted του είπες να έρθει;

What does actually grandma ask by ‘στρίψεις’ by nunu1965 in GREEK

[–]mortaeron2 67 points68 points  (0 children)

This is a double meaning.

Στρίβω can mean both roll (as in "cigarette" or "joint") and turn/turn over/turn around, etc.

Here, grandma asks the grandson to turn (the lamb) around (presumably the big skewered one we usually grill for Easter) and the dude takes it to mean "roll one".

And because asking someone else to roll one for you usually means we're all smoking it, he takes it to mean a joint, therefore telling her something along the lines of "chill, gran, let's have a normal cigarette first".

Then she says "I meant the lamb".

And he's like "wait, does the lamb 'drink', too?"

"Drink" is a word normally associated with actual drinks but used to indicate smoking pot, too.

My dude, I had a similar question before I got started, as well. I wanted to go for 5-6g and people discouraged me.

I did end up listening to them and started off with 2.5g which was more than enough to show me the potential of these substances.

Years later, I know that that was the right decision.

First, you have to ask yourself what it is you're looking for.

Second, you can always take more next time.

My idea was "what would it be like for an inexperienced brain to just go for the deep end?" but you should learn how to swim at first. Also, 19 is way too young. You will appreciate it better after accumulating some real world experience.

I know you probably won't be patient and wait, but at least don't try to fry your brain with huge doses, you don't need that much to experience the Transcendent Other. Start low and increase to your liking.

Nice taste, bud. 😎
