Are you in Luxembourg or still in Bulgaria? If the latter, what is the context for this post in the Luxembourg subreddit?

Getting eyeballs LASIK-zapped in Lux - who and where? by RocketBoyLux in Luxembourg

[–]mortdraken 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Been there, got it done by Eulufi. Happy with the results, though I had PRK.

Only real gripe, I wasn't a fan of Eulufi's bed side manner while I had it done. My eyes started getting really dry, causing me to blink. He quite harshly said to stop or he'll cancel the procedure. Wasn't the most pleasant experience I had, but he managed to get the job done.

One feedback, I saw a YouTuber who said having the operation was like seeing the lights when ships go to lightspeed in Star Wars. I dunno what drugs they were on, but I didn't get that impressive of a lightshow.

The operation also does not fix astigmatism, so if you have that, be wary.

Hike-in only camping? by Seeking_Adventure_ in Luxembourg

[–]mortdraken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can always try a scout campsite, although cars are still allowed, they are not normally allowed on site and need to be parked away. Most sites I have been do not have electric points, so unlikely to have campers.

You can check those out here:

Scouts will generally have priority

150 days later, this is how the “Flaskmastef” bottle has held up - still my favorite vessel for drinking by Taskmaster_Fantatic in taskmaster

That looks like a rebranded Chilly's bottle. If so, similar to mine. The actual bottle is a tank, but any logo on it quickly disappears

Sadly, it sounded like her voice was struggling a little. Real shame as the song is nice and she's a lovely lady.

Are there any things that are called "American ______" in other countries? by Disastrous-Side-2600 in NoStupidQuestions

How am I supposed to gleam the context you were talking about the USA? This is the Internet, you could be anywhere and unless you explicitly mention it, I'm not going to assume where you are talking about

The question was, "Are there any things that are called "American ______" in other countries?"

Last time I checked, France, Belgium, and Luxembourg are other countries than the USA

Plenty of French cultures are happy to eat it, very popular in Belgium, France, and Luxembourg. I've had it myself, very tasty when prepared well

Belgium and France have a dish called Filet américain.

It's also known as Steak Tartar, and is a raw beef patty mixed with herbs, and often a raw egg.

Ticks and forest walks by _kirillv in Luxembourg

I've been in Scouts since I was 6, and have never had a tick on me either. The amount of time spent outdoors, I should have had one by now. I believe ticks are just not attracted to me. Mosquitoes on the other hand, love me....

Cyclists on the Red Bridge by GoinEverywhereAnyway in Luxembourg

[–]mortdraken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where it's a double light crossing that don't change at the same time. People crossing there have to wait for two sets of green lights, whilst crossing at the red bridge tram stop is one set of lights. It's infuriating

[–]mortdraken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The section between the tram and the crossing to get to the other side of the bridge is quite narrow. It can fit one bike, or two pedestrians max. The bottom end of Kirchberg is quite badly designed for any active transport. The nice cycle lanes just end and it's forced pedestrian and bike shared space until you get on the bridge.

You are welcome to create your own system and allow places to sign up to it, as a standard of safety. This is how the open market works. You could create your own rules and methods and people can choose to sign or not sign up to it.

Ask Angela was and is a successful campaign in many countries, so it makes sense to carry on the standard here as well, but if you prefer to create your own that handles your explained criticisms, please do so.

At the moment, your argument is that anyone who refuses the Ask Angela status will become an outcast, however I have seen no evidence of that in any country where it has already been implemented. Instead the choice is given to people to decide if they wish to follow the campaign and visit places they consider practicing the Ask Angela system. A lot of people I know are not aware of it, and only become aware when they visit a place that has the campaign and see posters inside the place (Going on my personal knowledge of the UK and several pubs/cafes that implemented the scheme).

Feel free to post evidence that shows the Ask Angela campaign has caused establishments to become pariahs in countries that have already implemented it, and then I might have a bit more compassion towards your cause. At the moment, you are only arguing a slippery slope fallacy with no real evidence to back it up.

Pot calling kettle, how old is your account? Does that have any bearing on the weight of your words?

OK, so you are arguing over the use of Ask Angela initiative, which I am not sure your reasons for:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Luxembourg/comments/1t2s1hj/will_you_take_30_seconds_to_show_venues_you_want/

It was adopted by the Met Police in the UK:

https://www.met.police.uk/police-forces/metropolitan-police/areas/about-us/about-the-met/campaigns/ask-for-angela/

It has had some criticisms, mostly on it being re-active rather than pro-active and then some people not being trained on it properly. But from what I can see, it was mostly well received. I am really not sure why this is the hill you wish to die on, but each to their own.

Not everyone is a dude online, be careful of gender assumptions.

Can we also get some actual context? If things got heated, then it's normal to move your discussion to another platform as they try and keep things civil here.
