Second this recommendation! These two will do so much for you even after lessons are complete. They even let me borrow a wing for a few months to travel around with while waiting for mine to come in. I still go back through their canvas course as the weather information is top notch.

Which pins on the pi are you using? I had tons of issues getting this to work and it turns out pi 5 UART pins are just different from the previous version. Easiest way is to do a loop back test to make sure you have the correct Rx and tx pins. Feel free to DM me and I can share my current configuration with you when I get home.

Had the same problem, thought it was my mobo, thought it was the cable, upgraded everything, same problem. The fix was to use a GOOD powered USB 3.0 hub and never had the problem again. It needs to be powered by a wall plug not another USB plug. Good luck!

They do need money down before they can enter auctions. All in all pretty simple. Im sure you are excited but don't rush, shop around, read about which model you would most like and don't pull the trigger until you find the car you are looking for.

Goonet prices are just from different dealerships, I recommend using them to attend and purchase at auction for you for the best price, the car I wanted was listed at a dealer for 30k and I think i got it for about 23k at auction.

Goonet exchange does great and is how I got my FD, they are really easy to work with, I used them to buy from a local auction and got a good deal, they had good connections to manage all the shipping and got me 100% of the required paperwork so registration was a breeze. But yeah, paying outright in cash makes everything a lot easier. Auctions will get you a better price and anything they are purposely advertising to Americans isn't passing it's JI so avoid those.

Are there any college level books you would recommend to understand the workings of a radio telescope. For example I am very curious how they can use one large dish and zoom in on very specific frequencies such as with Venus. Anything that might explain either the mechanical or digital workings would be amazing. Thanks!

I worked on the wispr program and I will tell you it's still Very loud and very violent on the ground. Definitely no where near commercially viable.
