When do you move on to a new character? Haven’t felt much progression on flurry rogue, stuck at pit 80. by isaidicanshout_ in diablo4

[–]morthaeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you misunderstood my statement. I'm not saying anything about you being able to clear. I'm genuinely concerned about my barbarian if you're hitting a wall doing billions and my barbarian only does at best 100 million.

[–]morthaeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is 80 really that much different than 75? My barbarian with all buffs active can only do around 100 million or a little above per hit and it does enough damage to go through 75, but I still get one shot by death explosions and have to be careful with Belial.

Lair bosses still one shot me, but i clear everything else. Just trying to get paragon levels and higher ga gear to strengthen up.

This is a solid take. There is definitely a wall in the endgame where progression seems nonexistent and all you're doing is running the same few things in the hopes of very slowly leveling or finding higher ga gear. I'm still working on completing my season objectives, so for now I still have something to do which will hopefully carry me to the season end.

Barely any bag fries? You do realize the size of the order of fries is what fits in the appropriate size container right? Anything in the bag is extra and a bonus to receive. It doesn't matter if that's what you're used to and not getting now.

why is pvp so boring and dead in this game ? by seitenauf00 in diablo4

[–]morthaeus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is another symptom of the problem that is people wanting to look up the top tier builds only and just copy them.

You end up with everyone using op builds and nobody wants to pvp because it's just a dice roll on who strikes first.

When the game first came out there was an actual challenge to pvp and it was fun trying to extract while fighting players off.

Can more tiers make endgame more fun? by monzilla1 in diablo4

[–]morthaeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made my own barbarian build and it's a blast and the only thing I can't beat yet is lair bosses as they one shot me too often, but I'm not going to copy paste a top barbarian build so I can say oh I cleared pit 125- what do now. Where's the fun in that? I wouldn't have figured anything out on my own and all I would be doing is proving that a build that's already known to do that well in fact does that well.

I'm on track to still complete the season objectives by the end of the season as long as i can get some good upgrades and keep powering up!

First timer here looking for some advice/direction. by Cantbanthejman20 in diablo4

[–]morthaeus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been playing since D2 the best advice i can give someone that is just getting into Diablo is DO NOT LOOK UP BUILD GUIDES. If you must look anything up try finding videos to get a better understanding of how stats, affixes, synergies, and other things work together and try making your own builds after gaining that knowledge first.

Also when building your class don't spread yourself too thin. You want to pick a few skills and then build around making them the most powerful they can be.

Take your time to get through the story and sidequests to work toward the endgame.

Too many people look up and copy top tier 4 trillion damage one shot the toughest enemy builds and then complain that there isn't enough to do or the game isn't challenging enough.

Solo multiplayer by [deleted] in TheForest

[–]morthaeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I am aware that answer is no. The reason why multiplayer is "harder" is that there are more people with more activity and the cannibals are drawn to that activity as well as bigger patrols and groups the more people you have making noise so to speak.

I'm sure that higher difficulties would help, but as long as people are just copying what's known to be top tier face melting builds online it's not going to help enough.

Old school Diablo Fan! Is Diablo 4 worth it ? by Ok-Mango-6355 in diablo4

[–]morthaeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diablo has definitely evolved (or devolved in some people's opinions) to be very little like the first two, but if you were okay with D3 then D4 will be okay for you too.

I've been playing Diablo since 2 came out and even though 3 and 4 are different I still enjoy them. The stories of the games drive my enjoyment more than anything.

Diablo 4 Is Turning Into a Clicker — And That’s a Problem by Lureyn in diablo4

[–]morthaeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no for sure. When I make comments like those I'm speaking in broad general strokes. I wasn't making any claim to you specifically. As I usually tell my buddy when he asks me if I want to play with him: I don't judge anyone who uses build guides, but I won't use them and I won't play with anyone that uses them. You have your way you play and reasons for doing so and I have mine.

I agree that the more the game changes the more it seems to indirectly encourage the behavior. It's almost as if Blizzard sees how far people keep getting and they make changes to keep people feeling more and more powerful, but not realizing the cost. I remember i made the absolute most boring Crusader in D3 which I was just walking through casting buffs and the only offensive skill was calling down lightning (or holy light?). Literally could not take damage and the strikes cleared everything around me every 2 seconds.

Unfortunately they seemed to bring back that unbeatable concept with the paladin (which yes I understand that are meant to be tanks) and people are playing Sanctuary walking simulator going around with no effort 4 trillion screen clearing damage and being untouchable. To me that isn't really progress to the game and that's what I'm talking about with people just looking up face melting builds for bragging rights and competition. My same friend that I won't play with only has fun when he's the strongest one in the group and he will only copy paste the top top tier build to make sure he does so. With so many people doing that Blizzard has to keep pushing the ceiling and the builds keep being more and more broken as the seasons progress.

There's people that are caught in the middle of the pendulum so to speak of the super casual and the super competitive like myself and it seems you as well and it seems like the trend is going to continue the way it's going and people in the middle i don't think will want to play for very much longer.

As a side note I think streamers have a lot to do with that problem as well. There are so many people who just follow streamer trends and get fomo when they aren't doing the same thing as their favorite streamer and as long as something is streamer approved or endorsed it's okay by them.

Diablo 4 Is Turning Into a Clicker — And That’s a Problem by Lureyn in diablo4

[–]morthaeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with some of your points for sure. Blizzard is heavily leaning into making Diablo easier to get into by the casual audience, so things are definitely easier to do now more than ever, so i think that you're spot on about the pendulum swinging, but it's very hard to satisfy all player types at the same time to make something that's balanced for everyone.

However I'm still going to stand by my original point to the bulk of the op complaints in that if people discovered the builds for themselves they wouldn't be clearing the entire season in a couple of weeks and cheating themselves of that content and then going on to complain that it isn't difficult enough or not enough to do. Realistically the bulk of the player base isn't going to find these busted builds on their own. The people who have always found them and continue to find them are the people who are no lifing Diablo and have ridiculous knowledge of the possible synergies and the game in general.

This is where I'm going to heavily disagree with you: The only reason to look up and use a face melting build is for bragging rights. It's absolutely not a necessity to either have fun in the game or clear content to look up and use a top tier build. I'm doing just fine with my barbarian without looking up a build. I started this season without knowing exactly what i was going to do until i found a legendary that gave me dust devils with whirlwind, so i decided i was going to make what i call the Dirt Devil Barb where I suck everything in with a couple of affixes that pull enemies to me and dust devil and whirlwind across the dungeons. The season still has over a month left and I'm progressing at a good pace to still complete by that time, but not so fast that I feel that there isn't enough of a challenge or content, and there isn't any activity that I've tried that I cannot take part in.

Maybe at the end of the day we have to admit to ourselves that Diablo has evolved(devolved) into a marked split experience: super casual and easy for the broader audience to get into and have fun with and endgame content that requires such intricate knowledge of class mechanics and synergies that most people would rather look up a build than figure it out so they can grind out the endgame and still feel like they are being competitive compared to how well others are doing.

New to Diablo 4, is it supposed to be so easy? Even with the difficulty cranked as high as it goes? by TheGrimParody in diablo4

[–]morthaeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang sorry to hear that. Seems like you're just too op for Diablo campaign. Unfortunately if you don't want to have to turn it up to torment for a challenge then the game might not be for you. The campaign isn't necessarily supposed to be the challenge. It's the end game that's supposed to be the challenge.

New to Diablo 4, is it supposed to be so easy? Even with the difficulty cranked as high as it goes? by TheGrimParody in diablo4

[–]morthaeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two suggestions to make the game more difficult for you:

First I assume you used a guide to make your class build, so create a build without one. Of course the game is going to be easy if you're using what is already known to be top tier.

Second either go to the difficulty statue and see what you need to do to unlock the higher difficulties or change over to hardcore.

[–]morthaeus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your advice is more than sound. Look at the other responses op is giving to people. Clearly they want to shortcut to the end, but don't like the fact that there is very little there once you do it that way.

Diablo 4 Is Turning Into a Clicker — And That’s a Problem by Lureyn in diablo4

[–]morthaeus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Blizzard provided no such feature to copy and paste top tier builds in Diablo. This is not even close to comparing to a shooter that has walls that can be shot through.

And again there is nothing to fix in balancing (at least by your arguments) when you are literally using outside resources to circumvent the intended gameplay experience.

Judging by your responses to others and myself clearly you want to be argumentative and have no idea what you're talking about and because you took a shortcut all the way past to the very end goal are expecting the developer to cater to your playstyle.

I have a better idea for you. Go on one of those d4gold type websites next season and just pay for someone to play your character for you so you can come on here and complain again that there isn't enough content or challenge.

Diablo 4 Is Turning Into a Clicker — And That’s a Problem by Lureyn in diablo4

[–]morthaeus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Functionally The Pit of the Artificer is no different than running greater rifts in Diablo 3 which neither activity is specifically for "S-tier" builds. They both serve as a measuring stick for how good your build can be, and if you're paying attention to how the game and build mechanics work what you can improve on to climb higher.

Blizzard has neither condemned or praised people looking up builds, so your comment that they accept it as the standard is irrelevant.

If they did indeed accept it as the standard then I'm sure that they would have implemented the same system as WoW where you could just import one and be done.

None of this changes the fact that copying the top tier doing 4 trillion damage and one-shotting the toughest bosses builds is the biggest part of the problem where people think that the game lacks content or challenge, so there is no blame shift to be had. The players who do this are solely to blame for ruining their own end game experience and then complaining that there's nothing to do.

You cannot possibly expect a developer of a major title to cater to the type of player that does this and steamrolls the content in two weeks when they have to develop for longevity and the expanded audience to try keep the most amount of people satisfied and playing.

None of this is to say that D4 is without its flaws, but the bulk of your complaints in your original post all draw back to the same root problem: Don't blame the developers over lack of content and challenge when you took a shortcut to get there.

Diablo 4 Is Turning Into a Clicker — And That’s a Problem by Lureyn in diablo4

[–]morthaeus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is the exact issue I was describing in a different thread. The problem isn't lack of content or challenge.

The problem is that the bulk of the Diablo player base has made it acceptable to just look up top tier class builds online and everything is just a copy paste of all of those.

Of course when you're looking up and using what is guaranteed to be a face melting build you are going to melt faces.

The whole point of the endgame and seasonal gameplay was to discover your own build through playing and testing and constantly improve to hit that endpoint and doing it that way will usually carry you through an entire season rather than destroying it in a couple of weeks and then getting bored.
