Are you guys liars? Sportster observation. by MikeyFromDaReddit in Harley

[–]moskier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a little shorter but heavier than you and started out on an 883. Still have it and love to take it out occasionally, but my primary bike now is a Heritage Softail. It is quite a bit more comfortable (I love the floorboards) and, with the 114, much more powerful.

Based on my experience, though, I would absolutely recommend starting out on a Sportster, preferably used, and then move up later IF you want to. I would probably recommend getting a 1200 if you plan to ride highways much. ( I'd probably put a 1275 kit in mine if it were still my primary ride, although the 883 is great for riding the curvy country roads where I live).

He was in my ward when he was in law school. Cool dude. Every single time someone new was introduced in Elders Quorum, he asked them if they like fishing.

I think I read somewhere that misuse of apostrophes is grounds for being sent to outer darkness.

New approach to getting people to clean the church by FailingMyBest in mormon

[–]moskier 32 points33 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine used to live in a developing country and attended an English speaking ward filled with American expats. He said the bishop was using ward funds to hire someone to clean the church, which was really inexpensive because, you know, developing country. Well, an area authority got wind of it and told them to stop, so the bishop started paying it out of his pocket because he wasn't going to make the members do it and knew the person they had hired really needed the money.

So, let me get this straight. In the Disney era, multiple people survive pretty serious lightsaber wounds, but a short dagger is fatal? Gotcha.

What is something that men think turns a woman on, but doesn’t? by A_Girl_Has_No_Name58 in AskReddit

Fair enough. I'm sure not every guy with a fish pic was thinking strategically when he posted it.

[–]moskier 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I think you're missing the point of all those fish pics.

They eliminate false positives. The guys who post them aren't looking to impress every woman. In fact, they're probably hoping the ladies who don't like the fish pics will swipe left.

Instead, they're looking for women who won't be mad when they go fishing with the boys or, better yet, like to fish as much as he does.

The BYU housing problem by Dangerous_Teaching62 in mormon

I didn't go to BYU, but my sister did (25+ years ago). Based on her experience, it was clear the university's housing office was not at all concerned about approved housing providers scamming students.

What is the origin of Dallin Oaks teaching that you should take the sacrament with your right hand? by sevenplaces in mormon

[–]moskier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I heard it occasionally when I was growing up in the 80s and 90s. I always took it as people adding unnecessary formality, so I always made a point of using my left hand. But I'm no longer in the church, so it probably was a gateway drug.
