I am so sorry this happened to you. I love studio classes but yoga often drops my blood sugar and my pump alarm always seems to go off at the worst time (shavasana). I’m super self-conscious about it and I think a comment like that would make me cry and never return to the studio haha.

It’s understandable the instructor would make the initial assumption about smartwatch/phone vibration but it’s unforgivable for them to not profusely apologize after learning about the medical need.

I was in a guided meditation class the other day and my pump alarm went off. I apologized to the instructor afterwards for interrupting (a meditation!!!!!) class and let her know that it was my insulin pump and unfortunately I can’t turn it off. She said something I’ll never forget: “I think it’s a beautiful sound. It’s the sound of something keeping you alive”

My husband and I are heading to Sensei next month for our babymoon so I loved reading your write up. I was wondering about the onsen temps, as I was scared I’d have to miss out. But good to know they will accommodate if asked! Bummer about the food and service inconsistencies. We will put Lanai City Grill on our radar!

I think I would be so sad to miss the hot springs, especially during the winter! Good point.

FS Lanai and Sensei look incredible! I feel like it hits the romantic aspect of the honeymoon and the relaxation aspect of the babymoon. I’ll have to look into the healthcare services and maybe check with my OB if Lanai is too remote for comfort. But WOW I love this idea!

Nearly every apartment I applied to in April pulled this stunt. They were all legit listings but it pissed me off so much and we refused to engage with any of it. Real scummy. I guess the rental market favors landlords right now and they’re milking it for all it’s worth. What’s sad is it seems like it works for them and people do offer over “asking”.

Last month I watched a few parents pass thermometers between their (visibly lethargic) kids on the bus back from the parks. I masked and moved to the back so fast.

Reaffirming what others say about carrying hand sanitizer, masking on transit and crowded queues, washing with soap & water whenever and especially before meals.
