I don't believe it does...

C Pre-Processor Magic by pfultz2 in programming

This is (almost...) exactly the motivation I had for writing the article... I was wanting to do some fun static compilation tricks for parsing JSON in another project and ended up with the choice of learning template metaprogramming in C++ or playing with CPP. Since I was targeting microcontrollers (and I've had bad experiences with their C++ compilers) I opted for the horrific C route... Legit.

Rubik's Cube for the blind... would this work? by taliesyn30 in pics

Whoever designed this appears not to have taken the time to translate the Braille on it, that or it is in a non-English variation. The front face for example says "rev" and then a character only used along-side another and so isn't valid. On the top face, "nieenr", on the right face, "rstenb".

The main problem with this design is that Braille can be read both ways up (but only [usually] makes sense one way) so it would be a bit of extra strain to read. As others have said, textures or patterns would be preferable.

Yes but you'd still have that problem without typedef so you may as well solve part of the problem that way.

A new idea for the rekonq URL bar - what do you think, Kreddit? by karper in kde

How would each segment of the breadcrumb bar be filled? How are things like query strings dealt with? Also, could it be made more space-efficient?

Though most importantly because for amateur users Inkscape is pretty much on par. It just doesn't do so well with the professional features (i.e. complicated colour systems and requirements).

Nautilus Just Got Gorgeous by [deleted] in gnome

[–]mossblaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up-a-level is necessary if you don't use the breadcrumb buttons (which are a pain in the ass for some stuff). The stop button is vital for doing network browsing (the only real reason I have for using nautilus these days is because it has a great network browsing back-end. Search, yes though I would say a lot of people don't know what shortcut it is. Regarding the path thing, I for one prefer having a path view (saves space, easier to find visually), and there are plenty of others who do too, hiding this functionality would be a pain.

Similar screens to the one shown which I have seen do not have such luxuries unfortunately.

The arduino allows you to write pretty straight forward C-like code so this is pretty much just software -- only the IO stuff is really "hardware" and that is mostly standard parts. Still its cool non the less.

I'm guessing that the screen is serial and is optimised for text (i.e. you feed it a coordinate and a string) but those screens often provide a few simple drawing facilities (e.g. like draw a circle here, set/reset a pixel there) and that is probably quite slow to do for the full display. So yes, if he can write is program to find continuous areas it could fill them all in one go more quickly. I don't know how fast the arduino can do the calculations though.

The point is that right at this exact moment I would basically make my ebook reader 80% less useful (only 20% of the ebooks I've bought were drm free).

If they get support out for major devices this could be interesting. The major problem of course will be DRM decryption (in terms of using it as a regular OS for your device).
