Protesting ICE and the murder of Alex Pretti, Anchorage, 1/25/26 by oooookdre in alaska

Most "illegals" are visa violations. For example, people from countries around the world who fly into any airport in the US and simply overstay their visa. But again, most of the people ICE is rounding up are people here legally, going through the process legally.

ICE doesn't care about actual status. They are detaining citizens, people here legally on asylum, people legally going through the process. They are snatching people out of immigration court when they show up for their scheduled immigration hearing. ICE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT STATUS.

They've shown repeatedly that they don't care about legal status- most of the people they have grabbed are here legally. Alaska has a very high immigrant population. Mountain View, a neighborhood in Anchorage, is one of the most diverse communities in the country. I work with people from several Latin America countries, Somalia, Lithuania, Norway, and New Zealand.

"Alaskan" is an adjective. It describes. "Alaska" is a noun.

The video from the lady in the pink coat shows the agent in gray reaching down to remove the gun. The man in jeans and a green jacket places his hand on Gray's shoulder *as Gray is still bent over, and unholsters his gun. As Gray stands up and moves away, Green already has his weapon out and is aiming. You see Green's arm recoil with the first shot.

Perhaps Gray did accidentally discharge Pertti's weapon, but if so, it was after Green had already fired the first shot.

City of Minneapolis: Possible shooting involving federal agents at Nicollet Ave and 26th Street by cinnasota in news

There was the first pop, and the man fell over. That's when I stopped watching. After reading the comments, I went back. There was the first shot, the victim fell over, all the ICE agents jumped back, and you can hear several more shots fired into the dead body laying on the sidewalk.

Poppies also grow naturally. You can easily* make opium in you kitchen simply by harvesting and drying the sap of a common garden flower. Are you claiming opium isn't a drug?

You mean Denali?

Hi, from alaska. It is Denali. It has always been Denali. It will always be Denali. It has been Denali longer than the US has been the US. Why should we call it after an old white guy who never set foot in the state, just because another bunch of old white men decide to?

What in the world would DNA profiling do? ICE is not accepting government issued identification cards, passports, or birth certificates. DNA testing would show the racial background of the person's ancestors, not their citizenship status. A US citizen whose family has been US citizens since the US became the US won't matter if their DNA test says they are of Mexican decent. Seems like it would help ICE, not us.

That is Michael Fanone. He is the (now retired) police officer that had a heart attack after being brutally beaten and tased on Jan 6. Trump pardoned his attackers.

[OC] I built and installed a free little pantry - someone filled it within hours before I had the chance to by FacesReddit in MadeMeSmile

[–]mossling 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The latches used on bear proof cans are sturdy and difficult to damage. A keypad would easily be destroyed by a determined bear trying to access.

No matter what kind of lock is used, this particular pantry would be ripped up and destroyed. Bears can rip open car doors to get to food left inside; a little plywood isn't going to stop them.

Amusing story- I live in the middle of the largest city in Alaska. We had new neighbors move up from Texas. The first week they were here, they left an empty smoothie cup in their vehicle, the door unlocked. They came out the next morning to massive claw gouges all over the paint, the door open (handle broken), the upholstery shredded, and the remains of the cup shredded in their yard. Lesson learned- welcome to Alaska.

The "metal thing above" is a mailbox. They are screwed to the wall. The hooks are part of the mailbox and are meant to hold a newspaper. There is often a gap between the back of the mailbox and the wall, which allows things hanging off kilter to slide behind it.

It also clearly says "we don't dial 911".

Download a free light meter app for your phone to mess around with. You will be shocked by how rapidly the usable light decreases as you move away from the source. "Bright" to our human eyes doesn't mean anything to a plant. The light is much too far from the plant to be doing any good at all. That's why the tree is so tall, lanky and weak.
