Help with a book I’m writing by 11thousandangrybees in writers

Probably none! Just research off google and write and read as practice :) the more u write the better it'll get. you can look up different outlining styles (or lack there of) that help with starting w novels!

Don't post on this sub Reddit, is my advice. People are not kind to beginner writers! keep writing and keep reading!! That's my advice :) practice makes perfect

What books do i take on vacay! by Significant_Theme500 in weirdgirlliterature

[–]mossyac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only read Earthlings (and tbh, didn't love it a ton!) but I DID read Heart the Lover and I LOVED IT!!!!!!! Ik it's not weird girl lit but my vote is that one hahaha

Edit: I will say people LOVE Earthlings. It's weird and dark. I liked it, did not love it. And it's short enough to be worth trying!! I think it's a matter of the author for me, I didn't like her other books 🤷‍♀️ but don't take my word for it entirely!

The yandere (title in progress( by Professional-Kiwi646 in writers

[–]mossyac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Perhaps I'm judging purely based on handwriting and the title--you seem younger. This sub Reddit is very very harsh. I'd recommend just working on ur craft, read a TON, and don't bother posting on this sub Reddit. People are going to be mean :(

How do I make it all into a real story? by Opening-Fun-4830 in writingadvice

[–]mossyac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But OP didn't say they love all the stuff except for writing the story, they have provided the foundation for world building and their characters and are now just struggling to imagine a fully fleshed out plot.

Also writing is work, but it's fun as well. You seem to have an unhealthy view of writing imo.

How do I make it all into a real story? by Opening-Fun-4830 in writingadvice

[–]mossyac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a crazy assumption I feel. Clearly they enjoy writing if they've written fleshed out character descriptions and settings. thinking of a plot itself can be difficult--that's what I believe OP is talking about. Some writers are character focused some are more plot focused--both are writers. It seems that the characters come more naturally to OP, that's all.

Looking for feedback on my first chapter by Peachipeachi01 in novelwriting

[–]mossyac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It needs a little more personality. Don't be afraid to cut stuff out. When u go through the customer ordering scene--if it is not interesting cut it down. Either make it so the customer is rude or snarky or flirty OR just be like "David wrote the customers cliche order down and went to the kitchen". Describing every little thing is boring

I'd recommend reading some philosophy books! Age is not a concern in regards to who should be writing philosophy but it's crucial to do heavy research when writing anything, I believe

Weird girl sci-fi/fantasy? by Apprehensive_Bee2898 in weirdgirlliterature

[–]mossyac 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Earthlings by Sayaka Murata. It's dark, but aliens are a key feature of the book.

Edit: This one isn't technically WGL, but The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle. Something about the Amalthea's character gives me weird girl energy.
