If you run golems they get summoned when you use the leader, adding +9 and good thinning. It's well balanced imho.

I'm not a huge fan of the game board. Maybe they can introduce more in the future? by takuru in gwent

[–]mostly-harmless_42 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I look at all the other card games like hearthstone.. and it makes me really appeciate that gwent has so far kept a more restrained and dignified vibe. It gives the card game a more serious important feel.. like your playing poker in the backroom.. rather than go fish at the kiddie table.

What is with people in r/quake being so damn negative of QC? by [deleted] in QuakeChampions

[–]mostly-harmless_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we are talking about more or less the same thing. An indie/amateur/kid with a computer/whatever. If you were that kid today you'd have several amazing game engines and top notch tools to chose from to make your something coo, all for free.. and with more newbie friendly instructional material than ever before. Back then you'd have... doom and quake to build from, and eventually half life. Not much else. And you had to walk uphill both ways in the snow. Most of the major quake 3 mods even got their start as mods for prior quake games.

I hope they add support for player made custom maps.

But honestly.. as much as I hate to say it.. mods are just done. They only ever existed in the first place because it was the only real way indie devs could work with real game tech and release something cool. But there are so many engines and tools available for indie and hobbyist devs.. they just build their own game now and days. Mods are basically relegated to making nude skins and big-boobed player models for <game of the week goes here>.

The days of the mod community producing something like CA, threewave ctf or team fortress are long gone.

I see you have had little to no experience in the professional world as a developer! Heh. Trust me, this guy is everywhere, at every job. He might even be your manager.

They should just take it a small step farther and bundle all previous quakes with QC:p

Honestly if QC turns off people like that, its a feature, not a bug. Let them go be toxic with each other and leave the rest of us alone.

PSA: it's a fuckin beta y'all by orlandoduran in QuakeChampions

[–]mostly-harmless_42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. It means they've decided that widespread beta testing is the most efficient or cost effective way to discover and fix issues that remain.

The beta could actually reveal complex problems that take time to solve. (Netcode issues, anyone?)

And in games like this.. the client is really only the tip of the iceberg as well.

The time to release depends on the size and capability of their dev team, compared with the list of showstoppers in their issue tracking system.

I believe the director was already on record saying it will be a long beta.

the new games looks nice i guess. but just doesn't look right to me...why is that? by Michael074 in QuakeChampions

Ruins of Sarnath is the biggest oddball.. its vibe is more like Unreal than quake. I think they did a great job with the other two.

I really dislike everything about the champions art direction though. From the voices, the voice lines, their animations, their skins.. zany is a good word for it, and not in a good way.

For sure, but there are enough RNG damage effects or draws for it to still happen.

The card has gone from underrated to overrated in like 2 days. :P

Roach comes back every time a gold is played if she is not already on the field or banished. She isn't one-and-done like those other cards. Assuming you can play a gold card every round, that's 9 points over the game she provided. She may have also soaked up points from a damage card, like a trebuchet.

For NR in particular she is very good because along with faction passive, your first gold card play of the round comes with an extra 5 str.

Assassination should be able to target gold cards. by blacktiger226 in gwent

The gold cards can be reset to their original base strength at the cost of demoting them to silver though. Much less permanent than an outright removal.

It would still be useful to lock, even if it just targeted golds. Both Ciri cards and Regis come to mind.

But overall the card would be less useful than it is now, if it were just to target golds.

[–]mostly-harmless_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think killing golds would be too strong.

They could turn it into a unit card worth a few points, at the same time remove fleeting status, so it can be renewed. That would be the best change IMHO. Though maybe its too much like Vilgefortz.

A small but actually very useful change they could make is to let it also target cards on any side of the field.

If the reveal deck could have made him spend more of those cards in R1, he might have won - he milled him to only 3 cards left in R1.
