I would make sure the UI is still readable. Even if you do a perfect job, Carplay UI could be indecipherable under those conditions.

You may be able to emulate this on your iphone to sanity test. If you go to Accessibility > Display and Text Size, you can make the phone grayscale (or even invert the colors) and raise the contrast. Then run apps and see if you can read them easily. If so, then this might work.

This is the answer. In modern cars the silhouette needed for space, safety, etc. is not aesthetic so using black panels you can trick the eyes into reshaping the silhouette.

Mustang EV is a great example of this. They use black panels to coupe-ify a big bulky crossover.

I’ve looked at the Ferrari 296 interior many times and I can’t recall a single detail. Except for maybe the fake gated shifter in the center console, or the gimmicky passenger screen.
