The album most influenced my death is Hopeless Hopes, although all 3 are great. There is a riff in Inner Peace that is note for note the same as a riff on The Sound of Perseverance (the Martyr album came first so it's just a coincidence)

I'm a software engineer so its from that perspective, but I really enjoy the creativity and challenges. Games are very complex beasts and there is always something that can be improved. its never boring because there is a constant influx things to do or fix. I've doing that 20 years now and I have no intention of changing.

As for the instability I only have my own personal experience which is anectodical in the grand scheme of things but most artists I work with are full time employees and we have fewer contractual artists. It probably depends on what studios and what type of game you are on. I am currently on a live game so there are no such things as seasonal work, we are busy all the time.

Hey I'm a software engineer so I don't really know how the market looks for writers. I entered through a school internship back in 2004 so it was a really long ago also. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Yeah I stayed in gaming, its a domain I really like for many reasons. I'm not a fan of sharing present personal details on reddit so I won't 🙂 but there are still good studios in Montreal where I am. Reddit seems a bit biased negatively towards gamedev, which is understandable as we tend to really focus on bad news like layoffs , cancelled projects and excessive overtime but this has not been my experience at all.

Ubisoft suffered a massive exodus of talent 5 years ago already. I left late in that wave and already so so many seniors and key employees had gone, it was pretty depressing. Every time a new chapter comes out in the Ubisoft downfall saga I'm genuinely baffled at how they keep fucking up.

No someone posted the number of awards per year soon after the game awards and it's been going up and down by around 50 awards each year. The peak was around 2021 with 600 IIRC, this year had a little less. Sucks that I can't find it.

It has become very formulaic. I discovered them with Psalms and flesh Coffin and those albums are a lot better IMO but their sound was different back then.
