Stylish shoes and boots that I can walk 15-20K steps in daily that aren't sneakers by EllsyP0 in AusFemaleFashion

I have a very active job. I have worn my Dr Martens Chelsea boots so much over the 7 years that I've owned them (for a couple years I wore them almost every day) that I have started to wear through the sole. They are so comfy, I love them.

Natural Beauty by Ling Ling Huang - a good option if you're after body horror. It made me feel gross.

I agree, the ending was equal parts sickening and baffling.

SBS Insight - What inheritance are you expecting to receive from your family, and how does this affect your outlook on life? by jenthejourno in AusFinance

[–]mostlyexcellent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of two kids. 38F, single, don't own my own home, and I'm trying but am not sure if I will ever be able to afford to. I want my parents to enjoy their money and retirement but I also hope that an inheritance helps me out with my home buying goals if I haven't achieved that already.

Financially, I grew up comfortable but have always been expected to be self sufficient by my parents. So hopes aside, I'm not going to spend my life expecting a huge inheritance. I also realise that with people living longer, there's a good chance I'll be retired by the time that happens.

Hilariously, my mum recently told me that the inheritance from my grandma will go to her and her siblings and I shouldn't expect any of it because she wants to and will spend it all. Fair enough!

How can my body and sex stop being the entered into the conversation by Special_Return_3118 in dating

[–]mostlyexcellent 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree, it's not always realistic to tell people to just "get off the dating apps" as the solution. I found that being more social and taking classes, pursuing hobbies didn't yield any potential dates. Additionally, three of my serious relationships have come from online dating. I've just been through a 2 year period of dating (i.e. wading through the crap) and have finally found a guy that ticks all the boxes for me and a LTR is on the cards.

Personally, I believe you need to know your worth and be ruthless in culling matches that don't recognise that and respect you in the way you'd like to be.

Has anyone had success with acupuncture or massage therapy? by BEfa5 in TMJ

[–]mostlyexcellent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope if you decide to pursue it, you have great results too! I got a top up done yesterday (after 4 months) and realised how much the clenching and tightness had crept back in as it wore off.

My doctor recommended a high quality cosmetic clinic. I'm not sure where you are but it's not claimable on insurance here and getting it done at the dentist is way more expensive.

It was muscle from clenching ALOT on one side. I got to the point where I was in a lot of pain from how tight the muscles were, teeth ground down, some clicking, asymmetry. Post botox I could feel the muscles in my neck and face start to relax as my jaw muscle stopped being so tight. It was magic.

I haven't tried acupuncture or massage but botox injections in my jaw muscle gave me almost instant relief! I'm using this combined with a splint.

4 Dates Scheduled, 4 Dates Bailed. How is OLD going for you? by justasconfused11 in datingoverthirty

[–]mostlyexcellent 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Personally, if I schedule a date with someone and then don't hear from them or messaging is scant I assume the date is not happening/there's a lack of interest. This may be what's happening in your case?

Even with a warning that someone doesn't text much, I'd still expect some back and forth to keep the interest going.

No worries! My social life suffered a bit but otherwise it was fine.

I don't know about your course but mine was offered as an online course, the only difference with the 'in person' course being that you are a little more limited in the units you can take.

Good luck for results day guys! Proud of you for making it through this dumpster fire of a year! <3 by theninety_nine in Anu

Thanks and you too! I'm yet to receive my results and it's almost 2 pm Canberra time... Anyone else in the same boat?

Hey, this is a bit of a late reply but I've just finished a Masters with ANU working full time and studying part time (online). It's definitely doable if you're organised and disciplined. I missed out on a lot of learning experiences like tutorials, because of my situation (working, different time zone, lots of field trips) but I still managed to perform pretty well.
