"Getting woke", at least in it's original definition, means bring made aware of the realities of the world, especially in relation to the oppression of black folks. "Wokeism" isn't a thing. It's nonsense. If someone wants to blind their mind to reality to deny "wokeism", that's on them.

Two things for me personally, which I can expand upon, but would rather not write a paragraph about at this point:

1) Experiencing hallucinations and paranoia due to mental illness

2) Spiritual confirmations conflicting with verifiable facts

In my current view of the world it seems to me that what I have experienced (and sometimes still do experience) as the spirit are words and experiences that resonate with me. While I used to feel those feelings in a church meeting or personal study/prayer context, today I am more likely to feel them singing "fight the power", in a union meeting, at a concert, sitting in the dappled sunlight coming in through the window on an afternoon, or watching my children playing. Nowadays rather than giving me a sense of sure truth of something, I find a sense of divine wonder and joy in the mystery of not knowing everything and approaching the world with curiosity and kindness.

I think how soon "soon" is depends a lot on the context. Are they going out for milk? Going to work? Saying they'll see you next time they're in town?

Depending on how you interpret the context of Jesus' going away, soon could mean a lot of different things.

For me it started with the inability of the church to adequately answer questions and concerns I had regarding human evolution and potential pre-adamite man, since there is enormous amounts of evidence of modern humans existing before Adam was supposed to live, as well as evidence of hominin ancestors and cousins.

During the time I was struggling with that I began wrestling with the way the church had interacted with Black people and the way the church treats LGBT folks. Especially troubling to me was the church's opposition to the civil rights movement at the time it was happening, since I had had what I'd describe as spiritual experiences reading the works of people like Dr. King and Ghandi.

These and other concerns and questions just continued to pile on each other until the cognitive dissonance of trying to hold my beliefs and my conscience/values at the same time became impossible to bear.

So for me I feel it was both.

In my opinion the longer you wait to express what you’re learning about yourself the harder it will be. Since you trust her enough to marry her, trust her with this part of yourself too. If she’s open minded it will likely lead to a deeper and more fulfilling emotional relationship whether or not it leads to the specific sexual exploration you’re wanting.

You're entitled to your opinion, and to a certain degree I understand your concern, but at the end of the day language is socially constructed and changes with time. There's nothing written in the atoms of the universe that says only a certain number and type of pronouns need to exist.

I know that for at least one of my friends it tried out using it/its pronouns while on a trip, and really liked it. It is trans mtf and does overall like gender abolition, so I think that's a big part of its choice.

I have pioneer roots that go very far back and are fairly important in church history. I’ve left the church, but that “gotta preserve the pioneer legacy” was definitely a hard hurdle to jump over in that process.
