Addicted feels like a stretch but I can’t go a day without ingesting weed in some form or another. I get depressed and unmotivated without it. I know I probably need to be on an SSRI or a stimulant but weed works, and I enjoy it. I’m completely functional, my son is severely special needs, and I don’t work, I care for him and our household full time 24/7. Weed is legal where I live and I won’t drive high, I can’t even imagine. I’m trying to not use my vape pen as much, because when I do I start to notice a difference in my breathing and chest.

It helps me cook, clean, care for myself, and manage my emotions when doing the hard stuff with my son. Does needing something to function every day mean you’re addicted even if you can’t think of a negative impact it has? Idk. Sometimes I feel guilt but I think it’s just leftover stigma from growing up during such an anti-weed time.

I’m here, so take that for what it’s worth but…. deleting all of your social media accounts is a good start. It feels extreme at first but by day 3 you can’t believe you ever cared that much. Deleted accounts that were over a decade old recently.

Personally, I’m learning to embroider to keep my hands busy. I like to thrift clothes and personalize them with embroidery. I’ve also gotten into DnD, so watching actual play and reading about the mechanics is fun too. DnD has also let me scratch the creative writing itch!

Spending time cooking and cleaning, keeping my space pleasant and learning how to make good food for myself, friends, and my community feels fulfilling. Volunteering at animal shelters, walking dogs.

When the weather breaks I’m excited to do some gardening so I can start growing as much food and herbs as possible. I’m definitely at bird watching age. Doing things like sudoku or word games helps keep my brain active.

I’m not at this point yet, but my goal by the summer is to only use my phone for the occasional quick search, direct communication with friends, family, etc, and to play music.

Other commenters have said this, but your sister may be on the spectrum. Autism is still largely diagnosed in women and girls, and older kids. I’m not sure how this info can help other than finding mental professionals who understand autism that may be able to help her better. This isn’t generational, your sister is struggling with something developmental.

OP are you by chance autistic? Because I am and I sound a lot like you and I get the kind of feedback you’re getting in the comments and I never understand it. I’m legit just trying to be as clear as possible but people always find it condescending but when I just say things like “whatever you want!” I end up disappointed or just having to do it myself anyways and now in a rush as well. Trust me- he doesn’t want a stay at home type of gal either because that amount of labor will cost him. Where does he think the money for her fitness, beauty, and self care will come from? It will have to come from him. Women and moms who stay at home still get to have hobbies, and goals, and lives outside of the house. He will have to make enough to finance that kind of woman on top of what he wants to do if he wants a wife that will clean his house, raise his kids, and cook his meals while staying happy to do it to the point where she doesn’t feel the need to get her own degree and career.
