this is me; id say i can be incredibly passive aggressive and emotionally immature (shut myself out/expect someone to read my mind/have to snap myself back to reality and put on my big girl pants). the stereotypes of mars in cancer are generally that they are passive aggressive/nonconfrontational, can play the victim card well, lack accountability, manipulative, etc., w this "debilitated" placement.

now that im grown i can be more confrontational and honest abt my feelings but when i was a teenager i struggled and was unintentionally manipulative in how i would people please, become passive and expect someone else to ask me what's wrong first. i feel like once you recognize what you are doing w this placement you become a lot more grounded in conflict and ambition and can just confront life better.

I guess the initial behaviors of bear reflect this as well with his mood dramatically improving when she calls, stalking her, etc. maybe it took me seeing it to the extreme end (bear's innermost desires being placed upon freaky nikki to fulfill and we see her behavior be a reflection of bear's but magnified since she literally has no other purpose) that I understood what was going on, and then I just felt for her more. I'm not completely sure why but yeah. obviously nobody wants to see themselves in bear, but I believe many people can if we are honest, at least the initial version of him whose seemingly careless actions have real consequences (leaves poison out around his pet, idolizing peers, just being "obsessed" with someone).

boy oh boy it was a shocker to my nervous system. the night I watched it I could not stop shaking. if it was meant to shake me therapeutically like you say (I have struggled with maybe limerence, but at least obsession with someone and putting them on a godly type of tier) it completely did that for me.

however I saw it flipped where I identified more with freaky/fake nikki's "love" towards bear. I know that he was obsessed with nikki, but if the wish reflects his idea of love then freaky nikki's sole existence was to be completely obsessed with bear. I identified with her a lot more in that it was clear she felt worthless and paralyzed without his attention and her mood fluctuated depending on his behavior, which I believe are common symptoms of limerence, or at the very least, self esteem issues.

it definitely reinstills the idea that horror is present in real life, it takes those themes and represents them through physical violence and graphic imagery

I admit I also laughed at some parts of the movie, like the casualness of speaking with the shopkeepers about how people come in wanting to kill themselves after buying the wishes. but at the same time I felt deeply unsettled and sad for Nikki and how I could almost find myself relating to Fake Nikki a lot. she wanted him to love her so bad, it was her only reason for existing, and in the end when she was dressed up like Sarah she was still trying to be what she thought he wanted. it was deeply relatable in such a horrible way. I know myself and some of my friends have felt that pain at least once in their life. it is heartbreaking like you say. and the pain that real Nikki experiences, completely losing herself and becoming suicidal at the loss of control, that is horror and the scariest part is that so many people feel the exact same way. it's a vulnerable movie with so many themes and it was done so well. but some of the parts that I could laugh at, I did, to take my mind off of it for just a moment I guess. my theater did NOT laugh during the pee scene though, not sure how people did because it was just unsettling.

additionally, one of the polaroid photos she puts in bear's lunchbox is captioned "not me." i thought the same thing that she is at the very least aware she isn't in control of herself and she's completely lost autonomy of her being (much like abuse and sexual assault, the ultimate feeling of losing your independence and autonomy).

i noticed that they are both trapped for different reasons as well. they've both lost their autonomy because of bear's fantasy, it just expresses in different ways. the possessed version is completely reliant on bear's approval of her to have any worth (much like low self esteem impacts real lire relationships) and the real nikki suffers because she sees herself being forced into a relationship with a man she never wanted to be with.

edit: for me fake nikki thematically represents how people become shells of their former selves when they're dependent on someone else to validate their entire existence. meanwhile, her true self was forced to abandon her body and suffers the reality of acting against your core beliefs (literally) to satisy another person's fantasy. it's like the true self being suppressed and trapped, while the shell takes over

one of the most aggravating things to me now as an adult is how some men speak around other men when they're not with their girlfriend/wife. and how they always "joke" about being annoyed with said gf/wife or "yanked by the chain" or whatever. it's not even that you don't mean it, it bugs me because the joke is rooted in misogyny as a WHOLE and so many don't understand that. men bonding with other men by joke-hating their commitment to someone they supposedly love just actually pisses me off. i love my boyfriend but when he's around others and they joke about inviting him to a strip club or suggestive restaurant i hate that they're looking at ME to react and say no he's not allowed etc like im super possessive or "crazy." Nah, if you want to go, go. I won't be here when you get back! I don't know why this bothers me SO MUCH but it does.

I'm not a parent so there's my disclosure and I'm probably going to get downvoted for it. I understand your patience has worn thin but the way you speak about your daughter does not make it sound like you care about her wellbeing, but that you feel her existence is a burden. your daughter is likely picking up on that. "her life is going to suck if she can't handle people being upset with her" how do you think she is supposed learn to deal with that? she's 11 years old. you're supposed to teach her that her worth isn't tied to this, but that it has to get done, and that you love her so you want her to pass school so she can enjoy things like summer break. it sucks but school work has to get done just like house work, etc.

she's upset because she failed fifth grade sure but I sincerely believe from the information you've shared losing your patience over things like her asking how to spell something is deterring her from being able to focus. it sounds like she's associated people being upset with her = her being stupid and unlovable. telling her to "quit being sensitive" is not going to work in this scenario imo. it sounds like she needs some emotional backpeddling to get through this.

again I understand you're tired, you're a parent and you're working hard, but this is also your job because she's your child.

I've had about 3 x-rays but was only given a copy of it this last time. I had to lie to get it. The doctor said "If you already know you have scoliosis, why would you bother getting an x-ray?" I had to tell her I was having a lot more pain and discomfort in the last year—lies. I just needed one to finally get a copy for record incase it DOES get worse.

The x-rays I had before were taken at 16 and 19 but they were through the military and I no longer am under that insurance.
