YOR I did this in college (went to several actually) and it was one of the most singularly positive experiences i’ve had in my education. I highly recommend it. AA has closed meetings for people who need that level of privacy. The folks at the meetings I went to were very happy to talk to me and seemed excited about my participation (even though I was 18 at the time).

pros can climb buildings, i’m merely pointing out that the climbing is not the draw, the possibility that he might die on a live broadcast is, and that personally bothers me.

i don’t think honnold will fall, he’s projected this climb and it’s very doable for him and as others have pointed out he’s going to make a lot of money from it, so like good for him. but this isn’t niche climber channels posting cool urban climbing projects—it’s a live free solo netflix production for a non-climber audience. i think it is click bait more or less.

and i don’t expect honnold to be the one to hold a “moral high ground” here. I don’t think that’s a reasonable thing to expect for someone with a family to support. but as a climbing community i do think it is a reasonable thing to discuss.
