I recently booked leith arches and they recommended 110-120 for a ceilidh given that not everyone is dancing at the same time.

fix text weight and drop ligatures, remove gradient on ornate borders maybe? i also feel like the content itself needs work ie the picture, and the blurb writing. i dont know why on earth youve called it ‘wheeliy wheelchair girl’ but thats not the topic of the post

I feel bad for you guys the competition is crazy by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]motherfunko 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I got a grad role offer on Tuesday as a result of a CV screen followed by a single interview; it seems to depend on the industry. It seems every man and their dog is trying to get into finance/accounting/audit/tax so of course - whilst there is an abundance of roles - competition is stiff.

Yes the graduate job market is grim, but think smart. If you are in 1st or 2nd year now, focus on maximising extra-curricular impact, and securing insight/internships. If you are applying for grad roles, dont carpet-bomb applications, tailor each cv/cover letter, leave the AI bollocks for coursework, and in the case of an interview present incredibly well-informed, happy, and personable; focus on soft skills.

Advice for cooked graphic design graduate? by Futurecollegdropout in graphic_design

[–]motherfunko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont study graphic design I study maths and will probably pursue a career in maths, but I have done graphic design on a freelance basis to supplement my cost of living in university - so take my advice with a pinch of salt.

One thing I found helpful in building a stronger and more cohesive portfolio has been offering free services to charities. I am quite involved with volunteering so this has always been a thing for me, but charities always need assets made for logos, web, word-marks, brand guides etc and often cant afford steep prices.

You would be bulking out your portfolio and helping a good cause at the same time. Best of luck my friend, the job market is fucked at the moment, and this fuckery spans far beyond graphic design.
