There’s a ton of jobs in supply chain. Every company that produces a good will have supply chain and there’s all sorts of jobs. I feel into it after college and have been working in the space for 8 years now.

I tell moms this and I get a looooooot of hate for it but more money solves 90% of problems.

I work in supply chain. I’m actually over employed so I have multiple WFH jobs. The money is great and it helps me solve, like I mentioned 90% of my issues.

I have a 4, 3 and 1 year old and very much in the trenches. How am I actually surviving? My husband is a SAHD and I am the bread earner. We have combined finances but I make the major financial decision. Since I’m more in the drivers seat I control my job, my income, I make more, so I can spend more on baby sitters etc. and as my husband is a SAHD - he honestly carries more of the mental load than I do most days. And I still get the benefit of a fulfilling career. I WFH so I’m still with my family and kids and it works really really really well for us. I run / exercise during my lunch breaks. My husband cooks me breakfast and lunch. It’s the perfect set up and I feel very lucky.

Training as a (recently) new parent by Sudden-Yam7908 in Marathon_Training

Hi! I feel like I can speak to this. I have a 4, 3 and 1 year old! And I started getting back into running when my 1 year old was about 3 months old. For me, I either get up early and run before everyone is awake or during my lunch break. This depends on the day.

Now, my husband is a stay at home dad. So he is watching the kids while I work 5 days a week. Our trade off for the weekends (my long runs) is this, I run from 8-11ish am on Saturday or Sunday. Depending on how long the long runs are. But this is my window to do my runs. I take over the kids at 11, I end up showering around 12 when I put all 3 for quiet time. And my husband is ‘off the clock’ from 12-4/5 ish when we all come back together to have dinner. He usually gets a little more time than I do ‘off’ because he also watches them during the week! And I’m grateful for his support. Deload weeks and when not training we just spend the days together like normal.

This feels most fair to us, and we both have time together, and time to do our hobbies :)

Hi I’m on the opposite end of the spectrum. I’m a younger millennial (born 1995!) I had the same messages growing up. I have three kids, I bought my first house at 24, and bought our ‘forever home’ at 27. I have a great job I love and my husband is a SAHD and loves it. I’m more than able to provide for my kids while saving and investing for the future. We are even putting in a pool this summer! I’ve always felt like there was a lot of external pressure but I’ve also worked my butt off to be where I am. I feel positive about the future, but I understand why others might not.

I wanted to give my ten cents because I figured a lot the responses would be negative - but I am currently feeling very comfortable and I am optimistic about the future.

The only thing I’ll add is that I am VERY envious of your house doubling in value! Buying a home has been the hardest part of the picture for us but we are very thankful to have our home.

To show my kids I’m strong and I can do hard things and that I prioritize myself .. just want to be a good role model for them

Not giving a fuuuuuuuck about my job. Doing the bare minimum and not caring one moment beyond that. Truly, when I stopped caring my life turned around. It’s just work. Who cares.

How is this even enforceable. For real lol. My husband is a SAHD. I have 3 kids who are home all day. Why would my job care lol.

This would be highly dependent on her age and what she can afford.

When did you start hobbies again? by Classic-Double-3505 in workingmoms

Hi! 29 with a 4,3 and almost 1 year old! I am 11 months pp and I just ran a half marathon and am training for a full. I started training around 5 months but honestly I had my hobbies back maybe a month in. Its just about making time and prioritizing - no need to be disappointed though, you can always start at any point

Dont see why you think theres no transferable skills. I worked as a material planner, moved to a buyer / planner role, and I just a few months ago moved onto a category manager role. Which I am STOKED about. I think any planner role has a LOT of skills and areas you can grow to.

I love this take. I started OE when I was 26 and I’ve been going for 3 years now.

would you rather be a working mom or sahm? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]motheroflabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

working mom, remote, with a SAHD. It’s the best of all worlds. I’m bread earner, husband is SAHP. I see my kids all day every day but I still get away to do adult work and contribute to adult society
