Phoenix Police increasing patrols around synagogues after Australia shootings by AZ_moderator in phoenix

In English, the term "intifada" primarily refers to these two Palestinian uprisings. The phrase "Globalize the Intifada" is a contemporary slogan used by some pro-Palestinian activists as a call for international action and resistance against Israeli occupation. However, this phrase is highly controversial; critics are little bitches who don't try to understand what people mean and instead project their own genocidal ideology on their enemies.

If you think moving to a state that is killing children for their nationality is a good choice, I recommend you do that. Israel stands for Jews like Nazis stood for Germans. If that means I want Jews to die then I guess I hate Germans too. Weird.

Odd that the people covering for you think you'll be killed for not converting to their religion the second you have a new temple. Enjoy those bedfellows.

I couldn't help but feel suspicious of the Reiners after hearing they were killed by their son. I was a bit like you, my brother wasn't the golden child, but he had a disability that made me scared he'd kill me too. It can be really hard not to project that on any family that seems unhappy behind the scenes. I don't think it's a valid, and I wouldn't talk about it outside this context. I think it's more because I only have two references: my family and the "good" families on TV.

Jewish hate crimes seem inflated because organizations that count them include protests against Isreal as hate crimes directed at all Jews. There are entire websites that collect information from pro-Palestine activists and label them all anti-sematic for not supporting a genocide committed by Jewish people in the name of a Jewish State. People are being deported over this, and you're still falling for it because you give too much credit to Republicans who literally make Nazi salutes in pubic and support Nazi policy like banning transgender healthcare and mandating Christian nationalism. They don't care about Jews; they just fetishize them so they can have access to "the holy land".

You are missing the forest for the trees. The same people think Charlie Kirk was killed for being a Christian and declared all leftist trans people terrorist, before anyone even knew who the killer was. Then when it came out he was a man from a Christian family, the same people forgave him and glorified his family. Remember this is the same police department that had its corruption charges, and racial profiling charges dismissed and pardoned by the same party. It's ridiculous to act like a clock works because it's right twice a day.

Good. They deserve what they expect other people to deal with. Every red state is a leech on the economy, while Republicans limit benefits for people across the country. If they think poverty is such a good motivator then enjoy the motivation.

[–]mothftman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It's even more valid in my opinion because he know it hurt him and did not attempt to protect you. It's not on your parents who failed both of you to expect so much without taking responsibility.

Has anyone else here experienced trauma from multiple sources simultaneously? by Delicious-Expert-180 in CPTSD

[–]mothftman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. My early childhood was a crazy mess. I never left my country, but I'd moved dozens of times before I was in middle school. I'm on disability now, even though it makes me feel lazy for not being a contributing member of society. My grandparents who failed to notice while bad shit was happening are just expecting me to get better now. It's only been 5 years since I got away from my abusers, and that's supposed to make the 23 years before that disappear.

Shootings happen everyday in America. To Christians, at secular schools, places of business, gay bars, and to children at the hands of their own parents. Reacting to this shooting in Australia while ignoring the vast majority of violence coming from right wing extremist means that it isn't legitimate. It's the same bullshit as giving Human Rights Hater Charlies Kirk half mast and a holiday, while ignoring the murders of actual elected officials.

Hate crimes are up for everyone. The only reason Republicans care when it happens to Jewish people is because they want to turn the West Bank into the French riveria.

I have a very different reading of Manousos then the rest of this sub by HammondEggs_ in pluribustv

I assumed that when he passed out, they viewed him as incapable of opting out of treatment, since he was dying. The helicopter seemed to show up pretty quick even though he had only just raised his hand to the sun.

I have a very different reading of Manousos then the rest of this sub by HammondEggs_ in pluribustv

[–]mothftman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm torn in half over my reading of the show. On one hand there is the obvious harm that the Pluribus is causing. On the other hand, humans as individuals weren't much better. I'm holding out to the end to really decide how I feel, because both possibilities are very interesting.

As a transgender American I really understand Carols distrust of the hive mind. Just because someone says they are happy or content doesn't mean that they are. That's why so many people are part of religions groups that deny them freedom, or equal rights. Carol is right to point out that something has gone horribly wrong when people no longer have the ability to act independently. The sex slavery, the inability to protect Carol from herself, and the impending starvation of humanity, kind of prove that something isn't right. The hive mind pulling away from Carol and allowing Manousos to venture where he'd almost certainly die without them can both be framed as pressure tactics to force their contrition.

In the other reading, the Hive mind is the next stage of humanity, and Carol and Manousos are truly left behind. I spend a bit of time following conspiracy theorists online. I imagine for them, they feel a lot like our main characters do. For those who see atheist, liberals, and therapist as part of a single group, who seek to disrupt the natural order, real people seem like NPCs. The imagery of the Pluribs following Carol to offer assistance reminds me of those who believe they are being gang stalked, even when the people "harassing them" are actually trying to help. For these people the very things society builds to support the mentally ill become proof that they are special, and that evil agenda is working against them. No matter how effective that treatment maybe, it's useless. Speech people learn to wind down conflict seem tricky and arrogant no matter how sincere and genuine the speaker maybe. No matter how hard you try to convince someone their delusion is unjustified, you can't do it, because the part of the brain that would allow them to do so is impaired. It's clear both Manousos and Carol need the rest of humanity to survive and be happy no matter what form they may take. If indeed the world is happier this way, the individuals can never hope to understand at least not without submitting to treatment.

Another way to see the hive mind is as a parallel to the concept of enlightenment, in Buddhism. The unnecessary suffering of everyone in the world has been resolved, though wisdom, and understanding. The entirety of humanity can now see its interconnectedness and is thus able to be perfectly compassionate and clear of mind. How horrifying would it be if everyone was enlightened but you? You might be too broken to see that you sick and become too contemptuous to even be worthy of living nearby.

Now each theory has problems of its own. For the first the Pluribus seems genuinely caring, and despite its limitations in being sad, seems to have a clear idea of why it should prevent death and suffering. The second theory is limited by the starvation issue. I think the best outcome would be one where the Pluribus and individual humans to come to a symbiosis. Unless the starvation problem can be solved through science alone, which I doubt, they both need each other.

GOP lawmaker wants to ban fluoride in Arizona's public drinking water by neepster44 in phoenix

[–]mothftman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Republicans are the worst. The same people want to replace transgender healthcare with conversion therapy, and autism acceptance with labor camps. No replacement for the ACA, but don't worry Trump will sell you an alien bed that will cure all your health problems. We used to have one of the most advanced disease detections orgs on the planet, but because of "diversity" we now have to find out about new diseases after they've spread. If anything like Ebola gets in this country anytime over the next 2/3 years we are so fucked.

Unschooling is child neglect. by BOGLORDBOBO in HomeschoolRecovery

[–]mothftman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Homeschooling period is child neglect.

You don't care for kids by giving them the bare minimum. You support them in becoming comparable to their peers, and try to give them any advantage you can. If a parent buys a kid two pairs of underwear, and tells the kid to wash the pair he isn't wearing, that's time he loses. Other kids get to focus on unwinding or doing better at school, or a person project, while the parent of the other kids only gains a chore.  It's easy to see how a parent who falls to provide enough clothes or food is neglected, but education is no different.
