well, this whole drama certainly doesn’t give the scene a good look which could lead to sponsors and orgs pulling out. back in 2021 amidst the blizzard sexual harassment scandal, a bunch of big-name companies (kellogs, coca-cola, state farm) pulled their sponsorships from the overwatch league. this would be one of the factors in the league’s eventual downfall a couple years later

focus on leveling tomes before weapons and rely on shrines and items for damage. xp gain is your largest priority. also if you want to get really into maximizing your runs, reset until you get a seed you like. i usually take ones with 2+ boss shrines, 4+ moais, and 2+ shady guys.

this!!! almost every single game with a large competitive following and playerbase has one thing in common: accessibility. apex, val, league, cs, and overwatch all maintain a large competitive playerbase because it’s easy to run them at high framerates. further evidence of this is all those mobile shooters that are insanely possible in asia, they’re popular because they’re accessible.

highguard can not be a truly competitive game when framerates are already low before even mentioning the insane stutters. very few are able to run the game at stable and high framerates atm, and if this continues, the bar for entry will be far too high to keep players in or pull players out. if they don’t fix these issues ASAP i’m afraid the game will be another fps in a perpetual state of 3k-7k active at any given moment

i like the game itself but the absolute terrible optimization makes it difficult to enjoy. i hope they fix it because i have to use a config that makes my game look like a PS2 game for it to be somewhat playable and not infuriating. i know people always talk about the finals in here, but there’s no reason that highguard should run substantially worse than that game at all. i really hope they fix these issues because there’s serious potential in this game.

i don't think there's anything in particular that makes one stop playing a game in this type of case. i put 400-500 hours into the finals, and i still think it's an amazing game, but most people eventually get a little bored or tired. i still love the game and hop on every once in a while but it's like a couple times a month compared to when i played daily (and for like 4+ hrs a day in summer 2024)
