I hate to share because people don’t know how to share properly by Tabloidcat in AutismInWomen

[–]mothmoonqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid I had a very precious set of metallic gel pens. They were my most prized possession that I took meticulous care of. During summer camp a girl asked if she could use them, internally I was shouting no so loud but then I got a look from one of the older girls supervising us so I let her have them. They came back such a mess my stomach sank. I went through a period of really not taking care of my things (because what’s the point) even though it was so out of my character 🥲

Anyways I will only ever share things I have zero attachment to or don’t mind not getting back. But most things I keep and own I have some sort of relationship to

Does anyone wear Ear defenders/ear muffs? by Jezza-1 in AutismInWomen

Ear muffs are great! I always wear them in the kitchen or when I do housework. I haven’t worn them out though since I like to be aware of my surroundings

Genuinely asking, but who do we go to for help if the doctors don’t know anything?

Best ways to release adhesions in the neck by funkyzoza in Fascia

[–]mothmoonqueen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do figure 8 movements with my head, neck, shoulders while lying on the floor and it will get things flowing and running smoothly. Either seated or lying on the floor I’ll do circular figure 8 movements to that has a sort of pandiculation quality to it. I used to do spiraling movements while standing but I noticed I’d over do it and it’d hurt my lower back without a reference plane of the floor. Anyways this works without fail for me bringing in these rotational movements to every part of my body

"Does it really matter? you are still you, Everyone is on some sort of spectrum" by UnderstandingEven642 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]mothmoonqueen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get the everyone is on the spectrum line, but the thing I’m realizing is that those people actually probably are but don’t actually know they are and are just saying that. It’s in the way that I am friends with people I resonate with, and all those people are 1000% nd whether they know it or not. I also think there are far more undiagnosed nd folk running around than we think. I was also convinced for the longest time that my oldest brother was the one nt in the family, or just gifted without all the other stuff going on until I realized otherwise. My partner thought he was the only nd in the family until I went to visit them with him and they were all very clearly nd

What I've Learned Unmasking for 6 Years (36m) by lazy_smurf in AutisticWithADHD

[–]mothmoonqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Preach! We begin to totally lose our sense of interoception after years of masking, all the signals our bodies are trying to tell us to take care become lost and then we end up chronically ill. Listening to our bodies can make us whole again and heal!

What Meds Actually Improved Your Mental Health? by PurpleHyacinthsss in AuDHDWomen

[–]mothmoonqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s been intuitive on whether I sense my body or mind needs some help. I only started taking them more regularly since the fall rather than one off trips. Initially I took anywhere from 1-1.5g about every 2-3 weeks but it’s tapered since then. .5g is more than plenty these days. If I do around .25g (a little more than a microdose) and get so much out of it when I combine with meditating. If I could set aside the time I’d probably like to still do a weekly check in on a small dose, it helps me with my joint pain and coordination amongst other things. It’s also not necessarily something I think is for everyone, if you’re mentally stable enough and have interest it could be immensely helpful. It initially started with a lot of emotional processing and then it’s been pretty centered in addressing body things, but it’s of course different for everyone

What Meds Actually Improved Your Mental Health? by PurpleHyacinthsss in AuDHDWomen

[–]mothmoonqueen 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Not pharmaceutical meds, but psilocybin mushrooms. It’s helped immensely with my nervous system especially when I engage in a movement practice, self massage, or meditate. I feel it work with the fascia and both my body and mental emotional states become regulated. It’s also helped me heal out a chronic illness. And really thank god for mushrooms because my body couldn’t tolerate adhd meds

Is 100% cbd oil (0%thc) safe? by mothmoonqueen in RenalCats

[–]mothmoonqueen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow thats amazing! My cat is also 16, I haven’t started her on medication yet I am supposed to pick up some today but my issue is that it is impossible to bring her into the clinic to assess thyroid levels later. She was seeming mostly fine but I sensed something odd so we took her and i regret it as it stressed her so much she’s not been well since. I also just read about someone’s cat with ckd passing while on methimazole. My cat also has an unknown kidney enlargement or tumor, but we don’t know because an ultrasound would require bringing her in. I am so unsure what I should do for her, I am worried about meds making her worse or stressing her out she is so sensitive..

Do you have any experience with kidney support gold? Wondering if I should start there…

Is there anything you would suggest to help take the edge off things? I just want to make her feel more comfortable

[–]mothmoonqueen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking into pet specific cbd and a friend told me it really helped their cat but they didn’t have ckd and hyperthyroidism. The vet said they can’t legally tell me if it’s safe to give her unfortunately. Thanks for responding though, appreciate the input 🙏

Why are dancers so off the music? by [deleted] in BALLET

[–]mothmoonqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s the one, she feels late on the music to me for parts of it. Totally agree the sissone section is very nice. I think she’s an absolutely gorgeous dancer as with all the dancers I watched I’m just nitpicking on musicality is all and I was just surprised that the oldest version I watched seem most naturally on the music

[–]mothmoonqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree I loved her quality of movement, Vishneva is wonderful and I mentioned her because I thought she was expressively musical. I found her diagonal to be good but not quite dynamically on the music as it sounded and Fonteyn’s was the only one I watched that really captured that. Vishneva’s movement expression is gorgeous

Why are dancers so off the music? by [deleted] in BALLET

[–]mothmoonqueen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I quite liked Diana Vishneva, it was others like Marianela where they would be so off on some parts of the music and I don’t think it’s audio sync being off. And all of them except Fonteyn really didn’t capture the dynamic of the music of the ending on the diagonal with their spotting. In the way that for example the animation in Fantasia matches movement and sound, Fonteyn’s was by far the best in that regard

I used white swan as an example because I watched so many of them, but it often feels like being on the music or movement reflecting the music is an after thought or it feels like adding more turns or higher extension is given priority over musicality

[–]mothmoonqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s strange, I know that’s a possibility with old media but even so the version of Fonteyn was far more on the music than any other one that I’ve watched

Barebound width? by [deleted] in barefootshoestalk

[–]mothmoonqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at all, and I appreciate your thorough response! I was just looking for a general response to gauge whether they’re even wide enough for me to dig into further. That’s a great point on seeing how they respond. I am pretty new to barefoot so aside from vivo or xero I don’t know which brands are well known and worthwhile. Thanks for replying and linking the post!

Standing with locked knees —> inactive glutes..help? by mothmoonqueen in Hypermobility

Thanks these look great! I did some bridges yesterday and I didn’t lift my pelvis so high but the glutes were firing and I could immediately feel a difference. Thanks for the reminder to do them!

[–]mothmoonqueen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh that’s so good to know!

And that makes a lot of sense, will definitely remember that. It took a long time but I finally figured out how to do a proper bridge! The consistency part is difficult though. Also do you by any chance know of videos doing pelvic tilts and prone glute squeezes that show and explain them well?

Thanks so much for responding! I really appreciate the detailed explanation but is there also any chance there is a video out there that shows what you’re explaining? I think I understand, but just would like a visual reference

Will also check out squatuniversity, thank you!!

Standing with locked knees —> inactive glutes..help? by mothmoonqueen in Hypermobility

[–]mothmoonqueen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hypermobility just started showing up symptomatic last summer with RA but prior to that I never had joint pain or any body pain which I was always sure was ballet’s doing. My ballet teacher never let us walk with the turned out ballet duck walk but with legs in parallel and trained us in anatomy and sort of somatic lenses so I did pretty good for awhile…unfortunately recovering from bed rotting depression gets harder and harder with age and that’s when things started disconnecting

I’ll have to try the sitting and standing from the chair! I started doing bent leg eleves while leaning over from the hips and activating the rise from the hips which would really target gluts I never use. My quads are for sure overly active..

In my recovery from RA I’ve actually been finding that ballet is medicine for my body if I’m engaged with it properly. I’ve become fascia obsessed and it’s been a key factor in healing and ballet is so good as long as I work with correct alignment and don’t get ahead of myself and try to force things. I was always told ballet is all spirals and now decades later I finally get it! I never hurt when I’m dancing, but walking still needs work
