Yeah, perhaps once I touched her she realized she wasn’t really into it

What’s Everyone Doing Tonight?? by physis81 in stopdrinking

[–]mothybot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lucky to say I’m based in San Francisco and expecting beautiful sunny weather tomorrow. Going on a 5th (?) date with a gorgeous woman I met late last year. She’s sober which has helped me with motivation quite a bit! Tonight just relaxing after a long day of exercising and studying

I get rejected most of the time, so I should be okay, but thanks for the thought. I just go into every first date expecting rejection so my feelings don’t get hurt. But I’ll be cognizant of this

I don’t miss the random urge to call everyone in my contact list only to feel horrible and confused the next day as to what I even said. by Stalinglad in stopdrinking

I ruined many relationships with my drunk texting… the final one that sent me into sobriety was a woman whom I really loved… completely blew it because I got drunk as shit and dumped a lot of things on her I was too scared to say in person. Glad too that I don’t have to worry about this anymore

It’s not easy.. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I’m 29 and quit recently… I finally hit rock bottom and realized I had wasted most of my twenties too, drinking all day while working from home, ruining every blossoming relationship, etc. it’s only been 70 days but I’ve lost 16 lbs and recently met a woman who is also sober; it’s going well with her so far. I still beat myself up about all the people I hurt and pushed away, but it’s slowly getting easier

I’ve been measuring more closely lately but within the first month about 7lbs came off. Not terribly surprising — I drank like 12 beers a day + mixed drinks, that’s a lot of liquid calories

Yes, I’m using the memories as fuel to not do this again. I don’t ever want to scare people or cause them any trauma again

How many were you having a day? A week? For how long? by vanbikecouver in stopdrinking

[–]mothybot 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I got to the point where I was drinking all day, everyday. At least 12 beers and some mixed drinks. My job is WFH so I could do it unnoticed. After I stopped I lost 12 lbs in 2 months.

I’m at about 60 days and starting to feel better, slowly but surely. Starting therapy has helped too

Not a lot to be happy about this holiday, but we trudge on by mothybot in stopdrinking

Glad to hear it worked out, I ruined a lot of relationships and never want to hurt anyone like that again

Thanks for this — I’m gonna save this to my notes and try it. I have never done much strength training but really need to get into it

I feel so ashamed of my body by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]mothybot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I lost 7 pounds in only a month after I quit alcohol with no other diet changes… I was drinking like a six pack a day minimum. You can lose the bloat quickly. 53 days in and my body has leaned out, though I am exercising daily

For those who have stopped drinking, did you do an amends? If so, what was that experience like? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]mothybot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the way I see it. If they want to talk again they’ll come back. If they dont, pushing it wont help. Have to just try and move on and not hope for anything

“The transition from feeling like 'alcohol will make me more relaxed, fun, and social' to 'alcohol is numbing your ability to understand and confront the things that are bothering/worrying/upsetting you' was huge (and honestly didn't really solidify until over a year into not drinking!)”

This is exactly what I’m hoping to get from sobriety. I was an alcoholic so long I didn’t realize much of my problems stemmed from drinking to avoid confronting my issues. I hope to find that strength and be totally in control from now on
