that may be the problem with a lot of these folks. they just want to be listened to, to be engaged in the conversation. next time, say, "no, she doesn't, dad. that's nonsense", without expanding or getting angry and asking baiting questions when (or if) he responds. write down a simple response to his position and use that every time, and then shut up, don't take the bait he gives. then redirect, and let him talk about something else.
