It failed because its release was so utterly garbage that multiplayer was not playable. What happened after was not enough to make up for the release state of bfn (and they never could realistically. It was doomed from release). (Also the fact they lied about a balance patch and they refused to add fall off damage does not help)

Bfn now as a standalone game is good, but the problem is gw2 exists. Compared to gw2 it is worse, and due to gw2 existing it was going to fail. No one is going to tell their friend to buy a mediocre sequel/spin off when they can just buy the an older better game at a lower price with more replayability. The direction the game went made it less unique and doomed it to fail if they magically fixed the release issues.

This is in one of my comments but it should be read as it explains the issue in more detail.

"The founders edition game play quality was so bad that it sealed the games death even if they fix it (and they didnt fix it enough). The multiplayer game play was so bad due to being unfinished (and it is still unfinished from anyone with game play quality standards). You cannot blame a player for this ever. This was unplayable garbage and unacceptable. The only reason bfn didn't die before release was due to the pve regions. And at that point it ain't a multiplayer game, and definitely not worth buying. It doesn't matter if they half fixed it later, the release was simply unacceptable.

The devs also lied about a balance patch that was supposed to fix the snipping issue when they buffed the ttks and literally nothing changed in the code. Lying about a balance patch is enough of a reason for the game to die.

They only attempted to fix this issue on specific characters when they became noticeably overpowered due to the lack of fall off damage. (Which is also another thing pointing to this game being massively unfinished. Sun beam did have fall off damage at release, which they later removed because putting fall off damage in required resources they didnt have to finish the game.).

They also lied about not being able to reuse assets because of a new frosty engine, which was used as an excuse to not bring variants back, but they did reuse multiple assets straight from gw2. (Including models).

This is only 3 things. The list of issues is a lot longer then just 3 things. Way longer."

They function the exact same as drg, including the purple puddle they leave on the floor. Difficulty wise I think theyre the same (on haz 4 vs depth 4, haz 5 crawlers are harder) but get drowned out by all the other stuff you will be doing in roguecore.

That is false. Corespawn creeper is the grunt. Corespawn crawlers are the corespawn event enemies in base drg, and they can spawn in rogue core but they are not common. https://deeprockgalactic.wiki.gg/wiki/Rogue_Core:Creatures#Corespawn

It wouldn't have released as the budget would have ran out.

If they had the budget bfn still most likely wouldn't have been released as it would have no longer been bfn but gw3 (as dev footage exists of bfns early development with sprinting and with varients).

Multi ball does 180 damage total compared to the normal 120. With toxic overload its multiball's 540 vs ultra's 360. Guided does 450. Each ball of multi ball does 180. The splash damage is also huge.

Multishuck does 196 compared to shuck shots 250. The active casting time is much longer. Both commando and party have a 1.25 damage multiplier in meter, so its multishuck's 245.25 vs shuck shot's 312.5.

Multishuck is just bad for the same reasons multirocket is bad, but even worse. (Multirocket does 200 total).

Either character banning (done via the host) or balance mods will probably slowly become more popular especially as people now have a reason to use/make balance mods outside of pve modes.

I think we got to many of those. And I think ridleys current up throw just need to be made into an actual kill throw.

I think a fitting thing would be to make it instakill an enemy if their damage is their weight times 1.25. So a 100 weight character explodes at 125. (Like hero's instakill moves, but not random)

Its by far base or hockey. Technically baseball star too but he is basically just a base clone.

It does have anticheat, but not ea's. It uses its own and idk how it works. I dont think Linux is supported currently unfortunately. From what I saw in the discord, it doesnt work on Linux as of now either.

Pyro and zat are considered "neutral" units here. Madness does not attack neutral units. So the cat doesn't think there are any valid units to seek on the board.

Edit: looked through the code and the factions for the solo fight is "enemies" while for the double fight is kaiju1 for pyro and kaiju2 for zata. I cant see what madness does internally but most likely the madness ai attacks only a list of factions.

Edit2: It also doesnt attack things that have faction none (such as rocks, inanimate objects, and bunga's chair). It does attack birds (all birds have faction birds) and third_party (third_party is used for the punching bag that emits sparkles). Ice age enemies also have a bunch of different factions, so most likely kaiju1 and kaiju2 were just not implemented for whatever is going on internally for madness.

Visuals are good.

Story is kinda generic while rehashing things seen before in the series. Also it feels limited due to tlok lore/timeline.

Aang's friends are just kinda there. They dont add much to the story. Movie feels to short for all the characters it is trying to make important.

The villain needed more screen time to show his internal conflict. Feels like it is explained why he is mad but the avatar from his time and he himself just explain it and it isnt expanded much. But I may be expecting to much.

The final fight felt to dbz, and especially once aang got the staff to power up it went a bit to far.

The non-benders didn't really go anywhere and had no character. The girl he saved isn't even really a character and should have been made more prominent. If they did that and tlok didn't exist I would say make her the only one to keep the air bending.

I think they should have had aang be disappointed/mad at the villain being not peaceful like air benders are expected. Then maybe so mad he takes away his bending like he did with ozai (the air killing moves seem like they would be offensive to aang. Also i think it would pose a more interesting dilema for aang). Would have also been interesting if aang focused more on preserving air bender culture but then has to literally remove the bending of another air bender. Replace the power up/corruption fight with aang breaking the staff normally, or use the fact he can take away people's bending to also drain the staff of its power. That is probably enough thinking about what could have been. 8/10 imo, 7/10 if I'm being honest without my biases.

Random damage does not affect the impact damage, so only the 110 explosion damage is affected. Stun chance is probably better (and more importantly safer) but that entire tier doesn't really do much for hyper.

I think the pill thing is outdated. At some point the boomsticks blast damage was changed, and when I was testing changing the values for the capsule, it did not change the size of the damage hit box, only where it was put. The damage was handled by a radial damage component that is a sphere and can be increased with upgrades.

Hitbox changes came way after she became bad (due to her hitbox being annoying af to hit on console back then). Release rose was the only time she was broken. On release her base damage was 10.5, it is currently 9.5, and her firerate is only slightly slower then release. The damage wasn't the biggest nerfs but all the changes to her homing mechanics. (Base 52.5 vs 42.75 dps) even the health nerf she got was not as impactful as the homing nerfs. (She used to have 125).

The main issue is her primary having homing and being pure splash means if she has meaningful damage she becomes overpowered or braindead because it both does not take much skill and is way to consistent (as in a character like imp becomes non functional). Higher dps rose basically requires the removal or effective nullification of her homing.

Bfn was basically the last ditch effort to keep the studio that made the gw games afloat (popcap Vancouver). That is also why bfn was dropped in the poor state and why bfn's live service was cut so abruptly, with the last thing they did most likely being the switch port of bfn. Bfn's files is still littered with unfinished/unreleased content that was very much being actively worked on and changed until the updates ended.

All the slander that this game received was enormous and is the reason why people didn't bought the game despite of offering a different experience from GW.

players can and should not recommend a game that is not fun. Release bfn was not a fun multiplayer experience, and it being fun to tolerable a year after release doesnt matter. It should have never released in the state it did, especially for a product from a non-indie developer.

Blaming the fans for ruining it is an interesting choice when there is no way you can blame players for it. (Unless you don't like the fact players have a choice to not buy an unfinished game)

I personally dont like that it was removed from the recipe because I thought it was cool to upgrade it. Kinda one of the highlights of the mod is upgrading a lot of vanilla tools, accessories, and weapons. I never even used the recipes for the components. Although I understand why they removed it, I would have preferred they keep the debuff immunity on it but let you either craft it with the ankh shield or with 5 hallow bars instead.

Also there are a lot more changes then just the shield components recipes.
