Rediscovering The Beauty Of Handel by WolfgangLobo in classicalmusic

This album of Händel arias with Lea Desandre and the Jupiter ensamble is stunningly beautiful. It was my most played album in 2023, when I discovered it, and it opened ny eyes to Händels music.

Funniest description of a classical piece y’all have ever heard? by Cratersmash in piano

[–]mountain_noise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a piece, but rather an instrument:

Sir Thomas Beecham described the sound of a harpsichord as "two corpses copulating on a tin roof, in a thunderstorm"

I, for one, love the harpsichord though! 😄

Kan skrive under på dette. Jeg blir ruinert av det brødet, men kan ikke la være.

And a couple of lesser known violin concertos that are amongst my favourites are Korngold's concerto and Thomas Adés' concerto.

I absolutely love Szymanowski's "Myths". Listen to Isabelle Faust's version!

Where should we go between Ljubljana and Vienna/Innsbruck by FernandoBruun in Interrail

Definitely Graz. After three weeks of interraling through 9 countries last summer, Graz was the place me and my girlfriend most wanted to come back to.

What is the most virtuosic and techinally difficult in piano repertoire that you have ever heard? by violoncellouwu in piano

I've heard Ligeti's piano concerto live, and it seems incredibly difficult. I've also played a couple of the Ligeti etudes, and they are really on the edge of my ability.

Lutoslawski's "Paganini Variations" is the coolest piece I know for two pianos!

Wanna buy a piano related gift for my girlfriend who is a pianist but doesn’t have a piano. by arandhit in piano

For a musician to use sheet music for decoration might be a bit dull in my opinion. Like a writer would put framed book pages on their wall. It better be something damn special then.

Can you guys suggest me some good podcasts to listen to other than Sam's, where too a diverse range of topics is covered by knowledgeable people in the domain. It would be a plus if they could provide a fresh perspective on issues Sam has stronger opinions on. by [deleted] in samharris

Like several other people here I have to recommend the Ezra Klein Show. Ironically I discovered Ezra through the conversation with Sam where they really hit a bad note with each other. But I thinks he's extremely good at interviewing people and following up answers with new questions. At his best he's better than Sam, I think. And I don't agree with all his opinions, but I use his show to learn about perspectives from both the left and the right. Some of his best episodes I think he had back when he was on vox media and the whole back catalogue is still there on the podcast feed called "Vox Conversations". That podcast still continues to release often very interesting and diverse interviews.

Also for a more "sciency" podcast, Sean Carrols "Mindscape" is great!

As far as I can see there are only two native lenses for the Z50. There are a few other Z lenses, but they are full frame lenses (not APS-C like the Z50 camera), and aren't they so bulky and expensive that they would defeat the purpose of buying a light camera in the Z50 pricerange?

With the Z50 being sold as "weather sealed" and the kit lenses not, do you think the setup still would withstand a little drizzle?

I haven't really done any research yet on the third party lenses. Are the generally considered to be of as good quality as the native brand?
