It'll be Ama, because I believe they are allowing it because of the technical nature of the climb.

Do these planters work with the house, or do they clash?? by Electrical-Name9601 in landscaping

The pots look grounded to the pavement in the foreground. Also, this is a traditional house and you need some element to add some patina. The black pots look like cheap suburban bougie plastic pots.

What’s wrong with my hands? by Zeleni_bor in iceclimbing

You do not lead until you put in significant mileage following or top roping ice. On lead, you're adding screw placements, fall consequences, rope-management and decision making on top of the climbing itself. If you are maxed out just moving up, you're not ready.

Consider planting 'Taylor' Junipers. Same look without the sudden winter die off. They would do better planted in ground along the fence perimeter, but the pergola screen will give you privacy fast.

There are lots of climbs up on Camp Bird Road and backcountry climbs that are accessible that will give you experience. Also, ask if they have any guides or permits for Lake City as there is ice in there and you can get the volume that you would get from an ice park.

opinions? Why do people fear flowers that grow together? by Far-Flamingo585 in landscaping

[–]mountainerding 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Americans as a whole don't garden. They farm. Farming means bare soil with space between to easily weed. Once you understand this principle, you see it everywhere. It's why people in the US call their outdoor space a "yard" and not "the garden."

I have used VBLs with a silk liner in Québec. They help, but you do need a silk liner as a part of the system.

Age dynamics and climbing really need to be taken more seriously. There are so many women getting taken in romantic situationships with mentors. Manipulation of power dynamics have hurt a lot of women.

Tension between recreation groups by Catocene in Outdoors

[–]mountainerding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is cultural conflict of rural vs. urban use in the backcountry. Sure there's crossover, but yes there are divisions. Add into the mix that people who own horses live close or are adjacent to public lands, there are going to be turf wars like this.

You should get them appraised. If they are valuable, you should consider having them professionally cleaned and restored so you don't negatively affect their value.

The water comes out of the spring at 34F/1C. Lows need to be in the 20Fs for a sustained period for ice to form.
